The first thing I noticed walking into Nagwon Sutbulgalbi was, "Wow, this place is really big and clean!" The tables were spaced generously apart, so I could enjoy my meal privately without bumping into other diners' paths.

In particular, there's a wide variety of private rooms in different sizes, which makes it really popular with nearby office workers for weekday dinners, while weekends are packed with families dining out. It's an ideal layout for reserving ahead for large group gatherings or family events.

The large kids' play room: trampoline, jungle gym and arcade

This Naepo New Town BBQ restaurant has a large, fully equipped kids' play room set up on one side of the dining area! The thing you worry about most when eating out with kids is mealtime, right?

They've got everything from a big trampoline for jumping around to a colorful jungle gym slide, a capsule toy machine, and arcade games. The kids didn't feel cooped up at all and could run around happily, which meant the adults could relax and enjoy their charcoal-grilled ribs in peace. I'd say it's the best dining spot for parents with young kids.

Lower meat prices and the organic wrap-vegetable self-bar

The biggest draw of Nagwon Sutbulgalbi is the balance of value and quality. Instead of offering as many unnecessary basic side dishes as before, they've dramatically lowered the price of the most important thing — the meat!

Even so, the meat is 100% carefully selected domestic pork, and with the price fat trimmed away, customers get to eat much more meat for much less.

And there's zero reason to miss the extra side dishes, thanks to the well-stocked self-bar. You can freely help yourself to fresh organic lettuce wraps (from Lalala Vegetable Farm, grown without pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers), along with various side dishes, mushrooms, onions, and sauces, without any hesitation. The vegetables were so fresh and crisp that they paired perfectly with the meat.

How the charcoal-grilled marinated pork ribs taste

Finally, the domestic marinated pork short ribs I ordered arrived! The sweet, savory special marinade had soaked deep into the meat, and as it grilled to a golden brown on the grill, it picked up a subtle charcoal aroma.

Maybe because it's domestic meat, the texture wasn't dry at all — it was tender and soft, and I couldn't help but sigh in delight the moment it hit my mouth. Every bite brought a perfect combo of juices and sweet marinade that had me giving a thumbs up!

Wrapping a thick piece of rib with garlic and ssamjang (dipping sauce) in a fresh organic lettuce leaf and eating it in one big bite is pure happiness. Since the base meat price dropped, we didn't hesitate to order extra and ended up having a wonderfully filling, generous meal.

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) that comes as a basic side was genuinely amazing, and the steamed egg was so soft and fluffy compared to other BBQ restaurants that my kid ate it right up!!
