Weekend evening mackerel dinner for four in Cheongju: Jeju Badang
In short
Jeju Badang is a pot rice and grilled fish Korean restaurant on Seohyeonnam-ro in Gagyeong-dong, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju. On a weekend evening, two adults and two children ordered two mackerel set meals with pot rice plus one extra bowl of rice, and the table filled up with 12 kinds of Korean pancakes, stir-fried pork, lettuce wraps, soup and an included salad bar. With a glass-walled kids' play room and a wide outdoor parking lot, Jeju Badang is an easy choice when you want grilled fish with children along.

Parking at Jeju Badang was easy even on a weekend evening
I was trying to figure out dinner and thought fish would be good for the little ones, so we headed to 'Jeju Badang' nearby~
Even though it was a weekend visit, the outdoor lot was big enough that parking was a breeze!

After parking, we took the elevator up to the 2nd floor-
The entrance and restrooms on the second floor

As soon as we got off, 'Jeju Badang' was right there- there was a description of what kind of place it is out front. And right next to it were the restrooms, clearly marked. It was nice that they were separated into men's/women's, easy to visit comfortably.

On the wall was a description of 'Jeju Badang'.
Jeju Badang Capturing the sea of Jeju as honestly as possible ▶A restaurant making braised hairtail, grilled fish, and pot rice Good food starts with good ingredients. We carefully select fresh, honest ingredients. With time and care, we keep the ingredients' natural flavor intact.
What the dining room at Jeju Badang looks like
The moment we opened the door, the chairs and the big lighting fixtures were there, and they were so pretty and modern.
The whole place felt clean overall, and even though it was a weekend there were plenty of open seats, so we got in without waiting - loved that!
The glass-walled kids' play room and baby chairs
The best reason to visit 'Jeju Badang' with kids is the play room!
There were baby chairs set up in front of the play room. The kids' play room was entirely glass-walled, so it was easy to see them from outside too, which I liked.
There were also blocks, a slide, and picture books, making it a great spot for the kids to play happily together^^
What four of us ordered: two mackerel sets with pot rice and one bowl of rice

We sat near the self-serve bar.
On the table were paper cups, bowls, pot rice water, and plain drinking water. Since the pot rice water can be hot, it's worth keeping an eye on kids around it for safety.

We visited with 2 adults + 2 kids, 4 people total. We ordered mackerel set + pot rice (single) x2 and a bowl of rice x1. Our order came with 12 kinds of pancakes, stir-fried pork, lettuce wraps, soup, pot rice, and half a mackerel. We also wanted the salad bar so we asked, and they said it was included too. Ohhh~ ><

What's on the unlimited salad bar at Jeju Badang?
I was really curious about the salad bar.

Peach iced tea and maesil tea (plum tea) first, then coffee

Fried chicken and various sauces
There were tons of different side dishes too!
How the grilled mackerel and pot rice tasted
As soon as we ordered, they brought out a whole spread of side dishes.

Japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) and salad too — full of side dishes the kids love ><
Then they brought out the pot rice and mackerel! Since the pot is hot, you have to watch that kids don't touch it - the staff placed it in a safe spot on their own. I appreciated the thoughtfulness^^ They also gave us lemon and wasabi with the mackerel- eating it with wasabi made the grilled fish taste even cleaner.
The flesh was so plump~~~ I never really liked fish, but I completely fell for this mackerel, it was so, so good!

You scoop the rice into a bowl, pour the pot rice water in, then close the lid
After finishing the rice, we got to enjoy a satisfying finish to the meal ><
'Jeju Badang' was so, so good. True to its reputation as a Cheongju favorite, we had a meal that was clean yet filling and healthy! A Gagyeong-dong Korean restaurant that's also a real Cheongju favorite, 'Jeju Badang' — I really recommend it*^_^*
