Dalke Dessert Cafe is a plant-filled dessert café on Gyeryong-ro in Tanbang-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. At a window seat beside the floor-to-ceiling glass, Dalke serves fruit desserts piled with kiwi, blueberries and figs alongside drinks, plus a pastry case of financiers and canelés. Crisp meringue, cream and fresh fruit made the dessert easy to finish without feeling heavy.
Luonto Sutonggol Branch is a large glass-walled café in Sutonggol, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, where a giant Christmas tree sets the mood at the end of the year. Visiting with a friend, I ordered an einspänner, soft-serve ice cream and chimney bread, then looked around the indoor hall, the outdoor tables under a white tent and the small wedding space on one side of Luonto. For anyone who wants to tour a big café space and eat dessert in one stop, Luonto Sutonggol Branch is well worth the trip.
THE MUA is a restaurant in Tanbang-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon serving pasta and other Western dishes. On this visit, thick cream sauce gnocchi and tomato pasta were ordered together and eaten in turns, and the contrast between the rich mushroom cream and the tangy tomato sauce worked well. With its calm wood-tone interior and cozy tables at the back, THE MUA suits both date nights and family meals.
