A meat restaurant stop after work near Chungjeongno Station
After work, I went to Doldam Sutbuljip (돌담숯불집), a great restaurant near Chungjeongno Station, for dinner with a coworker. It was a great place to visit when you are craving meat, and I was happy because both the pork belly and pork neck were delicious. It is at B201, Suite 202, 21 Jungnim-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul. Perfect for people who work around Chungjeongno Station, right!?

It is also in a good spot for anyone looking for somewhere to eat between Chungjeongno Station and Seoul Station, so people searching for a restaurant near Seoul Station may want to keep it in mind too. The side dishes were so generous, and they grilled everything deliciously, making it such a nice place to go after work.

Charcoal-grilled pork belly and pork neck
We visited after work and ordered pork belly and pork neck. Cooking them over charcoal gave the meat a subtle smoky aroma, which I loved, and they had jeon (Korean savory pancake) plus all sorts of special house side dishes. Naturally, every side dish was delicious too.

The pork belly was nicely rich, with plenty of juices still in it. The pork neck was not dry and had a clean flavor, so it was nice to alternate it with the pork belly. Both were delicious, so rather than choosing just one, I think you can order according to your preference!! They look wonderfully thick, don’t they?

The fun of cheese and grilled accompaniments
Personally, the thing I remember most was the grilled cheese. Grilling it with the meat added a rich, chewy element, and it went together better than I expected. Having it here and there instead of eating only meat made the meal feel different and delicious!! And the indispensable partners for meat—Saero and Cass too~!

The garlic, kimchi, and gosari (bracken fern) that we grilled alongside were all really delicious too!! We ate them with the meat, furrowed our brows in that honest-food-expression way, and said, “Wow!! This is seriously so good!?” The grilled kimchi and gosari in particular were perfect with the meat,

and the garlic became nutty when cooked until golden, so I kept reaching for it. I tend to care about the ingredients you grill on the side when eating meat, so I liked this lineup!! We started by ordering two portions, and they were thick and plentiful, right?

Complimentary sundubu-jjigae and galbi for next time
Best of all was the complimentary sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew)! I was surprised that it tasted so good even though it was not something we ordered separately. It was properly spicy and so good!! Having a warm soup alongside made it perfect for an after-work dinner. Taking spoonfuls of soup while eating meat cut through the richness, and I think it would go really well with rice too.

The table next to us had ordered galbi (marinated beef short ribs), and it looked quite good. If I visit again, I would like to try the galbi too. It was the kind of place that made me curious about other meat dishes beyond pork belly and pork neck. The smell of galbi was so good that I kept looking over at the next table, haha hehehe.

Hours and group reservations
Hours are 14:00–24:00 on Saturday and Sunday, and 16:00–24:00 from Monday through Friday, with last orders at 23:30. They also offer lunch group reservations before opening hours, so if you are planning to visit as a group, it would be best to ask by phone. They seemed to have dishes besides meat too, such as kimchi-jjigae? Things like that!!
Overall, the meat was delicious, and it was fun to grill cheese, garlic, kimchi, and gosari, making this a great Chungjeongno Station pork belly restaurant for a meal with coworkers after work. Having sundubu-jjigae along with it made for a satisfyingly hearty dinner. If you are looking for pork belly near Chungjeongno Station with convenient parking, I recommend checking parking availability and how to use it before visiting. + Oh, and even though they were busy, they diligently grilled the meat for every single table, haha. Seriously highly recommended!
