In short
Baengni Gomtang is a Korean restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, near Hongdae Entrance Station. I enjoyed beef gomtang, yukhoe and mini suyuk on my own, with a subtle young-ginseng aroma in the broth. Verdict: a comforting, filling spot for a solo meal or a drink.

It was so nice that it wasn't far from the station either!! The weather was lovely, and I had such a happy time. I found this great restaurant, and it felt wonderfully easygoing^^

At Baengni Gomtang, a Korean restaurant in Hongdae, I had gomtang (beef soup), yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), and suyuk (boiled beef slices) as a solo meal. The clean broth, fresh yukhoe, and tender beef were all satisfying. With a cold glass of Terra beer, it was a filling and pleasant meal even on my own.

If you're looking for gomtang in Hongdae or a place to eat near Hongdae Entrance Station, I'd recommend it.

Korean beef gomtang topped with young ginseng
The Korean beef gomtang has a clean broth topped with young ginseng and tender meat.

It felt like they were looking after your health with fresh yukhoe-centered Korean beef dishes and young ginseng!!

The mini suyuk was also great as a small side to have with the gomtang^^ I liked the price too!!

The subtle aroma of young ginseng made the gomtang feel more special than an ordinary rice soup!! The rice had soaked up the broth, so one bowl was plenty filling, and the side dishes were not overly seasoned, giving the whole meal a nice balance.

Adding yukhoe and mini suyuk
Freshness is important with yukhoe too~ and this was really clean-tasting and delicious.

The sprouts and sauce went together beautifully.

The suyuk was tender too, and it was so nice with the garlic chives.

A relaxed setting for solo dining or a drink
Even if you're not very good at eating alone, I think you could manage a solo meal at Baengni Gomtang^^ It's a compact restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere.

It's also nice for a refreshing drink. You can find the restaurant in about a 3-minute walk from Hongdae Entrance Station Exit 7!!

Of course, gomtang needs kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), right?^^ The side dishes were clean and fresh too, and they felt like they elevated the flavor of the Korean beef gomtang.

When you're craving a deep broth~ or need a nourishing meal, how about heading to Baengni Gomtang, go go go???

The jeotgal (salted seafood) that you can't leave out of gomtang was properly delicious too. It was even better with the sauce!! The deeply simmered yet clean Korean beef broth was generously filled with tender, moist meat, while the subtle young-ginseng aroma, kkakdugi, and jeotgal balanced the flavors.

There is a lunch-time service too: one complimentary glass of Jangsu makgeolli~~ I should come at lunch next time!! A healing glass of makgeolli~~ And it's no secret that they even offer to take a photo for you on your way out!! Above all, the reason I want to return is~~~ they were so kind^^

There is meaning behind the young ginseng!! Apparently, it tells the person who worked hard today, “Cheer up!!” Eating the sprouts gives you a little boost!!

The portions are generous, the value is great, and it's delicious—there's no reason not to eat here.

The yukhoe has such a lovely combination of tender meat and sprouts!!

It was so delicious that I finished everything neatly on my own^^

I had a great meal. It's delicious alone, but it would also be a nice date spot for a couple!! There are tables for two and four, so you can come comfortably and enjoy it!!
