Solo cold noodle and dumpling set at Dangsan Station: Dangsan Myeonok
In short
Dangsan Myeonok (당산면옥) is a Korean noodle restaurant near Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, serving house-made naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), Seoul-style bulgogi and Pyongyang giant dumplings. The writer had the mul naengmyeon and dumpling set alone for lunch, and the noodles in icy dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth with a single long scallion paired well with the juicy handmade dumplings. If you want cold noodles and dumplings together on your own near Dangsan Station, Dangsan Myeonok's single-person set is a good fit.

Even when the weather turns chilly, there's a soul food that strangely pops into my head every so often! It's naengmyeon (cold noodles), with its chewy noodles and superb broth 🧊 Today I visited Dangsan Myeonok (당산면옥), a place near Dangsan Station that's known for clean, refreshing naengmyeon. I tried the hearty mul naengmyeon + dumpling set. The owner was super kind, and both the restaurant and the food were clean and satisfying, so let me introduce it ✨

What does Dangsan Myeonok look like inside and out?

The entrance greets you with a neat, tidy sign and a traditional myeonok (noodle house) look. The sign shows Seoul-style bulgogi, Pyongyang dumplings, naengmyeon and more at a glance, so it's super easy to find, and the building is clean, so I was already looking forward to it before going in 〰️ Next to the entrance, the signature dishes and set options are clearly posted, and it's the kind of place that lures you in as you walk by!

Inside, it's warm wood tones with a modern, tidy feel! The tables are spaced widely, so solo diners like me, office lunch groups and families can all eat comfortably 👍🏻 The interior is kept clean, and the owner greeted me so warmly the moment I walked in that it put me in a good mood! 😊😊
Dangsan Myeonok menu: naengmyeon, meals and sides

The menu at Dangsan Myeonok is made up of carefully pulled house-made naengmyeon, Korean meals that go well with it, and good-value sets. The main dish is Seoul-style bulgogi, a pa bulgogi (scallion bulgogi) simmered in a sweet, old-fashioned marinade with a little broth. I saw another table eating it and it looked really delicious, honestly..
- Naengmyeon: mul naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon, hoe naengmyeon
- Meals: handmade giant dumpling soup, giant pork cutlet set, Papa budae jjigae
- Sides: Pyongyang giant dumplings, yukjeon (beef pancake), etc.
- Popular set: naengmyeon + dumpling set (popular as a single-person set!)
Since I came alone, naengmyeon by itself felt a little lacking, but a whole plate of dumplings felt like too much, so I ordered the 'mul naengmyeon + dumpling set', which is perfect for that! 🥟
How are the dongchimi broth and noodles in Dangsan Myeonok's mul naengmyeon?

What catches your eye first is the dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth with ice floating in it. It cools you right down to your chest, and there's no strong artificial seasoning taste. The deep, subtle broth and the tang of the dongchimi blend nicely, so it's clean and full of savory depth!

Unusually, one long piece of scallion, like from pa kimchi? Or pa dongchimi?, was in the bowl, which gave the coolness a different feel 🤍
The noodles are moderately thin yet springy and alive, so the bite was so good! Yes, this is naengmyeon..

Slurped up wrapped together with the toppings of pear, cucumber and egg, the balance is perfect. It also went well with the pickled radish served as a side dish 👍🏻
What are the dumplings in Dangsan Myeonok's set like?

The dumplings in the mul naengmyeon + dumpling set come out piping hot, steaming away! The wrappers aren't too thick and are chewy, and they clearly looked like handmade dumplings 🥟

Inside, they're packed with meat, vegetables and glass noodles. Every bite bursts with savory juices, and after a sip of the cool, clean naengmyeon broth, biting into a hot dumpling gives you the perfect sweet-and-salty plus cold-and-hot combination. Your teeth go warm, then chilled 😅🤣

Is the cold noodle and dumpling set enough for a solo meal?
The mul naengmyeon + dumpling set was totally satisfying as a solo meal, in both amount and composition 🤤 I cleaned the bowl again today 🫢 The coolness of the naengmyeon plus the heartiness of the dumplings left me full.
I highly recommend it if you're looking for a clean naengmyeon spot near Dangsan, or want to enjoy naengmyeon and dumplings alone without any pressure! If you're craving cool broth with juicy dumplings, enjoy a satisfying set meal at Dangsan Myeonok 🤍
