Osan Korean set meal with mild scallion bulgogi: Bomseol

When dining out with my child, I naturally look for somewhere with food that is not too strongly seasoned, plenty of side dishes, and good rice too. This time, I was craving a Korean set meal, so we visited Bomseol Main Branch (봄설 본점).

Ordering mountain-of-scallion bulgogi

What we ordered this time was mountain-of-scallion bulgogi. It costs ₩20,000 and can be ordered for two or more people. Just as its name suggests, it came topped with a truly generous amount of scallions, so it caught my eye from the start.

Bomseol is a Korean set-meal restaurant where you can enjoy a full table of varied side dishes and main dishes.

Space for family meals and gatherings

Inside, the overall atmosphere was neat and calm, so it looked like a nice place for a family meal or a meal with parents.

The self-service bar has ingredients for making barley rice and barley bibimbap!

They say the private banquet hall and private rooms for occasions such as first-birthday parties, 100-day celebrations, birthdays, 60th and 70th birthdays, company dinners, and family meetings can be reserved in advance. There is a large parking lot, and the banquet hall for private use by up to about 50 people, along with smaller private rooms for 4 to 12 people, can also be booked ahead. With an advance reservation for the private banquet hall, they provide free rentals of first-birthday table settings, doljabi items, sound equipment, and more.

Tender bulgogi tried with my child

In particular, we tried the mountain-of-scallion bulgogi, a newly launched menu item at Bomseol Main Branch, with my child. It was less strongly seasoned than expected and the bulgogi was tender, so it was good to eat together with a child.

A table full of side dishes and pot rice

Another appeal of a Korean set meal is, of course, all the varied side dishes. Bomseol Main Branch also set out a table full of different dishes, so it was fun choosing what to eat.

It came with a range of items including salad, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and fried dishes, making up a full meal with wholesome side dishes prepared each morning and warm stone-pot rice.

There were lots of side dishes, and above all, I liked the warm rice served in a pot.

A dish where fresh beef, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and green onion come together beautifully in a broth with a wonderful sweet, salty, savory flavor!

The beef was tender too and practically melted in the mouth. It is great for a child to eat.

We visited with my child this time, and I was more satisfied than expected. When eating with a child, taste matters, but I also look for food that is not too intense, a place with good rice, lots of side dishes, and an atmosphere where families can eat comfortably. I thought Bomseol met those conditions quite well.

They said they would give us glass-noodle add-ons if we asked, so we added some and ate it together—it was even tastier 👍

Filling pot rice through the end of the meal

Pot rice is something you cannot leave out of a Korean set meal. What I especially liked at Bomseol was the pot rice! Since the warm rice arrived in its own pot, it felt different from an ordinary bowl of rice. The freshly cooked-feeling warm rice went so well with the bulgogi.

And after finishing the pot rice, we could even have warm nurungji (toasted rice crust in hot water), which made the end of the meal feel satisfying too. Rice is important when looking for a Korean set-meal restaurant with a child, so I personally was pleased that they serve pot rice.

Master barley corvina gift set

They were also selling master barley corvina gift sets for the upcoming Chuseok holiday. The set of five fish costs ₩100,000 and the set of 10 costs ₩200,000; they say these are extra-large barley corvina measuring 31–34 cm.

They were also selling the side dishes served at Bomseol. There were snacks ready to enjoy for dessert, and the sesame oil used in the barley bibimbap was for sale as well.

You can register your vehicle before leaving, and parking is provided for two hours.

This time, we tried the newly launched mountain-of-scallion bulgogi at Bomseol Main Branch. The combination of generous scallions and tender bulgogi was good, and the food overall was not heavily seasoned, so I thought it was a Korean set meal that was good to share with a child. More than anything, I liked that a whole table of varied side dishes came with warm pot rice.

If you are looking for somewhere to dine out with a child, or for a neat and thoughtfully prepared Korean set meal, Bomseol Main Branch could be worth a visit. Next time, I would like to try another full-course set menu.
