I'd been feeling low on energy lately and really needed some stamina food, so the whole family went out for delicious eel. Today's place is a truly proper Baegot eel restaurant: Songnim Bok Jangeo! You can have unlimited eel, plus pork belly and duck neck too, so it's a fantastic spot, and I've already been back many times. It's basically my regular place.

Where is Songnim Bok Jangeo Baegot and where do you park?
The Siheung Baegot direct branch is on the first floor of the Yuho N City building. You can park in the building's basement, which is convenient, and if it's full there's a public parking lot right in front, which is nice.
- Address: 43-7 Seoul National University-ro 278beon-gil, Unit 133, 1F, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi
- Hours: daily 11:30–23:00
What is the atmosphere like?
The moment you step in, the place feels clean and bright! It's spacious and comfortable, and lots of people come for company dinners, gatherings and family get-togethers.

What kind of eel do they use?
The biggest reason I keep coming back is that they use only top-grade Korean Japonica freshwater eel. They say only eel prepared at dawn that same day is served, and maybe that's why it's so fresh, with no fishy smell at all. Nothing beats eel as stamina food, and the quality here is a cut above, so I can always eat with confidence.
How much is the all-you-can-eat?
The unlimited refill costs ₩29,900 for adults, ₩14,000 for children and ₩7,000 for toddlers, plus a ₩3,000 table setting fee (children excluded). It completely smashes the prejudice that unlimited refills mean lower quality, and the price is so kind!
- Adult: ₩29,900
- Child: ₩14,000
- Toddler: ₩7,000
- Table setting fee: ₩3,000 (children excluded)
They also have plenty of side dishes like eel soup, yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), buckwheat makguksu (cold noodles) and spicy ramyeon, which go perfectly alongside the eel.
Tip for a free Chambokbunja wine
If you follow Songnim Bok Jangeo on Naver, they give you Chambokbunja (black raspberry wine) as a freebie, so be sure to grab the perk before you visit! Eel with black raspberry wine, I don't even need to explain, right? 😉
Can you get eel to go?
They offer takeout too. Eel takeout is ₩35,000 for 1kg, which comes to about 650g after trimming. For a housewarming, home party or gathering, taking home neatly prepared eel to grill yourself seems much more convenient and generous.
How is the grilled eel served and how do you grill it?

With your first order, they bring out fresh eel along with thick pork belly, duck neck and the basic side dishes, all neatly arranged. After that, any extra side dishes, meat or eel you need, you just help yourself at the self-serve bar without feeling awkward. The heat is so strong that everything sizzles and cooks quickly once it's on the grill, so the waiting time never got boring.

📌 How to grill eel deliciously!
- Put the eel on the grill skin side first and lightly sear it.
- Flip it and cook both sides until golden brown.
- Snip off the fins along the edges neatly with scissors.
- Cut it into bite-size pieces and stand them up with the cut side showing, grilling until golden. Done!

How does the freshwater eel taste?
The moment I put a golden-grilled piece of eel in my mouth, it was crisp outside, plump and fluffy inside, and the nutty flavor spread through my whole mouth. The more I chewed, the more the eel's rich fat burst out, with no fishy or off smell at all, just a deep, clean savoriness that makes you want to keep eating^^

Ginger slivers, special sauce and pickled perilla leaves
Eel is mild and tasty on its own, but pile on a generous heap of sharp ginger slivers and dip it in the special sauce, and the greasiness vanishes and only the nuttiness remains. That's the best way. Wrapped in tangy pickled perilla leaves (kkaennip jangajji) or fresh lettuce, it's honestly heavenly!
Eel's benefits are even better when you know them
Eel is the star of stamina food, and knowing its benefits makes you feel even healthier, right! Here's what the writer put together about eel's benefits.
- Energy recovery & stamina: rich in protein and vitamins A and B, it's said to help relieve fatigue and restore energy.
- Blood vessel health: rich in unsaturated fatty acids (DHA, EPA), it's said to lower cholesterol and help circulation.
- Skin beauty & anti-aging: vitamin E and coenzyme Q10 are said to protect cells from damage and help keep skin firm.
- Immunity: rich in vitamin A, it's said to strengthen the respiratory mucous membranes and boost immunity.
I think we had eel refilled three more times that day. Since it's unlimited, there's no need to feel awkward, and eating so comfortably was great. The eel was really fresh too, so I could eat with confidence.
Are the duck neck and pork belly good too?

I grilled the duck neck and pork belly included in the unlimited refill just as I was marveling at the eel, and they felt fresh and new again, with a different taste and texture from the eel^^ The duck neck was chewy yet got really tender and mild the more I chewed, with an outstanding nutty flavor.

The pork belly was thick, with a satisfying chew and the juices really alive, so it was delicious.

Would I recommend it as a family stamina meal?
Songnim Bok Jangeo is a Baegot eel restaurant where you can stuff yourself with fresh Korean Japonica freshwater eel, pork belly and duck neck! Thanks to the clean space, friendly service and above all the fluffy, plump taste of high-quality eel prepared at dawn that same day, I leave 200% satisfied every single time. If you need an energy boost for the changing seasons, or want a hearty, tasty meal with family or coworkers, I strongly recommend visiting!
