Ramen solo dining in Bucheon: Gyeoretsu Ramen Bucheon University Branch
In short
Gyeoretsu Ramen Bucheon University Branch is a Japanese restaurant near Bucheon Station and Bucheon University with bar seating that suited my solo lunch. I tried mazesoba, karai tonkotsu ramen, and fried king gyoza; the flat, chewy noodles stood out, while the ramen was flavorful but a little too spicy for me.

Is this a good spot for a solo lunch near Bucheon Station?
I visited Gyeoretsu Ramen Bucheon University Branch (교레츠라멘 부천대점), near Bucheon Station and Bucheon University. The interior felt cozy and tidy.

There was bar seating, known as dachi seating, which looked convenient for eating alone. I also saw many people dining by themselves.

What did I order, and how much was it?
I ordered mazesoba, karai tonkotsu ramen, and fried king gyoza at the kiosk. Each menu item had a photo and description, which made choosing easier.

- Mazesoba ₩10,000: A soupless Japanese mixed noodle dish, tossed with spices, special sauce, and toppings.
- Karai tonkotsu ramen ₩9,500: Spicy ramen made by blending several kinds of chili powder into tonkotsu ramen.
- Fried king gyoza ₩3,500: Japanese-style fried dumplings with filling.

The kitchen was open, so I could watch the food being prepared. I also noticed the owner regularly wiping his hands while cooking.

How were the mazesoba noodles and seasoning?
The mazesoba was topped with minced meat, scallions, garlic chives, crushed seaweed, and an egg yolk. I broke the yolk and mixed it evenly through the toppings and noodles.

My first bite was nutty and savory.

The noodles were especially memorable. Unlike other mazesoba I had tried, these were flat like kalguksu noodles and felt chewier.

After eating about half the noodles, I added a little kelp vinegar. It brought out more savoriness for my taste.

How spicy was the karai tonkotsu ramen?
The tonkotsu broth in the karai tonkotsu ramen, blended with chili powder, tasted spicy and refreshing.

As someone who does not handle spice well, I found it a little hot. Still, it was not greasy, and its spicy flavor kept me reaching for more.

How was the fried king gyoza with ramen?
The fried king gyoza looked crisp from the outside.

They were packed with dumpling filling, so they felt substantial even as a side dish. They also went well with the ramen.

Can you have rice after finishing the noodles?
The self-service bar had side dishes, sauces, and rice.

After finishing the noodles, I mixed rice into the remaining mazesoba sauce. It was a different kind of treat from eating the noodles.

The rice was good either soaked in the spicy ramen broth or mixed with the remaining savory mazesoba sauce. Adding rice made the meal feel satisfyingly complete.
