Kids calcium-magnesium powder for a 5-year-old: The Day Strong Kids
In short
The Day Strong Kids Cal-Mag Plus K2 Strawberry Flavor is a children’s calcium-magnesium supplement I gave my 5-year-old in Korea for about a month, one stick a day. My child liked the strawberry flavor, and the water-free powder sticks were easy to take along when we went out. Verdict: the best part was building a habit of taking it independently each morning.

Why did I start giving a kids’ calcium-magnesium supplement to my 5-year-old?
My child often had nosebleeds in the morning and seemed to have dark circles under their eyes, so I became more attentive to meals and nutritional supplements. At first, I gave calcium and vitamins separately, but as the number of products grew, it became cumbersome for me and my child gradually began refusing to take them.

Then I came across The Day Cal-Mag. I liked that I could give just one stick a day, so I started giving it to my child.

What did I look for in the ingredients and materials?
In the product description, I noted that it contained calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3, and vitamin K2 together. I thought it could reduce the hassle of keeping up with several different products separately.

I also looked closely at the blend ratio. The description saying that calcium and magnesium were blended at a 2:1 ratio stood out to me when I was choosing.

I was also interested to see that the vitamin K2 used a “trans-7” form of ingredient. Details like this about the ingredients were something I referred to when choosing the product.

The description that it did not use Japanese- or Chinese-sourced ingredients also influenced my choice. Since this was something my child would take every day, I found myself checking where the ingredients came from too.

Did my 5-year-old like the strawberry flavor?
When I opened a stick, there was a subtle, sweet strawberry scent. My child smelled it, became curious, and took a bite on their own; afterward, they even asked for more.
I tasted a little too, and it had a smooth, clean strawberry flavor. I was happy that my child looked for it on their own, without the back-and-forth we used to have over taking supplements.

Was it convenient without water and when going out?
The fine powder melted in the mouth and left almost no residue. Since it could be taken without water, it was easy to give regardless of where we were.
When we went out, I carried one or two sticks in a pouch. The packaging was neat too, so I thought it would make a nice gift.

What changes did I notice after about a month?
Over about a month of giving it to my child, my child seemed more energetic than before, and I felt that the nosebleeds became less frequent. Still, I cannot say that everything changed because of a single supplement, or conclude that these changes were the product’s effect.
The change I was happiest with in everyday life was that my child developed a habit of taking their supplement independently every morning. My child accepted the flavor well, and one stick a day was easy to keep up with, which made things easier for me too.
