Chuncheon tonkatsu restaurant with spicy sauce: Jeongseong Katsu

There’s a place that’s been getting popular lately as a great restaurant in Toegye-dong, Chuncheon. It’s Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch (정성카츠 춘천퇴계점)! It’s also well known for delivery, so there were lots of delivery orders and riders coming through while we ate in the restaurant. There are high chairs, and the menu has items children like too, so I’d recommend it for a family meal as well 💌

Parking and hours at Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch

It’s at Units 101 and 102 on the first floor, 10-8 Toegye-ro 93beon-gil, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon State. Monday through Friday, it is open from 10:00 to 22:00, with last orders at 21:00; on Saturday and Sunday, it is open from 09:00 to 21:00, with last orders at 20:00.

It was near where I used to live, so I was happy to visit haha. They say you can use the building’s underground parking lot. We found a spot on a side street, so we parked there and came in! If you’re visiting at weekday lunchtime, I recommend using the underground parking lot 🚗

There are two- and four-person tables, and there were really a lot of customers. They have two high chairs, too. Disposable aprons are available as well haha.

Jeongseong Katsu has had a reputation for being delicious for a long time. I heard it even won a grand prize in the tonkatsu franchise category and ranked first in a customer-satisfaction best-review award. When I mentioned it to someone I know, they said they used to order delivery from here often, so I got more and more excited.. 🥹

Tonkatsu and udon menu

There are lots of kinds of tonkatsu (Japanese-style pork cutlet), including loin katsu, hire katsu, and cheese katsu. There are also hot nabe (Japanese hot pot) dishes and udon! 🍜 Udon and cold buckwheat noodles are also available as tonkatsu set meals, so keep that in mind if you love noodle dishes 〰️

Jeongseong Assorted Katsu Set Meal and fish cake udon

We ordered the assorted katsu and udon to share with our child haha. It was busy with lots of customers, but the food came out faster than I expected. The Jeongseong Assorted Katsu Set Meal includes loin katsu, hire katsu, and fried shrimp. It also comes with curry! 🍛⭐️ I had considered adding curry from the side menu, so I was happy it came with the assorted katsu set meal 😎

You can choose either the regular or spicy sauce, and we ordered the spicy one. It wasn’t hot, just nicely spicy(?)—easy to eat without any trouble. The round piece of tonkatsu is hire katsu, made with pork tenderloin! My husband gave me some with wasabi and spicy sauce. I like lots of sauce, though, so I dipped it in even more. Hahahaha.

The hire katsu was so tender 🥹🥹 Maybe because they use Korean pork, the tenderness was different from ordinary pork cutlets! It was so delicious that next time I need to order the hire katsu set meal.

Fish cake udon ordered without kimchi

This is the fish cake udon I ordered. I ordered the version without kimchi to share with my child ✌ My child saw the seaweed and called it miyeokguk (seaweed soup). There were lots of toppings, and the fish cakes were good quality 🍢

It comes with large square fish cakes and cylinder-shaped fish cakes. Every fish cake was thick and had no fishy taste! Maybe because of the fish cakes, the broth had an added depth of flavor.

The kimchi at Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch was stir-fried kimchi! It was my first time seeing stir-fried kimchi at a tonkatsu restaurant, and it was really delicious ✌🏻 We enjoyed both the tonkatsu and udon, so I completely agree that this is a great restaurant in Chuncheon’s Toegye-dong 💪🏻
