Ogeum BBQ dinner, gochujang pork & bibimbap: Baekhyang Jipbulgui
In short
Baekhyang Jipbulgui (백향짚불구이) is a Korean restaurant serving straw-fire grilled meat near Ogeum Station in Songpa, Seoul. On a late weekday evening, the writer and her husband shared the small gochujang pork straw-fire grill (₩32,000). They added wraps from the self-serve bar, a bibimbap (mixed rice) made with seaweed flakes and sesame oil, mildly seasoned side dishes (banchan) and seaweed soup (miyeokguk). The verdict: Baekhyang Jipbulgui's seasoning is flavourful but never too strong, making it an easy crowd-pleaser in Ogeum-dong.

If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant in Ogeum-dong, I recommend Baekhyang Jipbulgui (백향짚불구이). It's right near Ogeum Station, so it was easy to find :) My husband and I went for a hearty dinner, so here's my full review, haha.
Baekhyang Jipbulgui location and opening hours

The address is 16 Jung-daero 25-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, 1st floor, and it's a short walk from the Ogeum Station exit. The weather suddenly turned cold lately, and in times like this.. a place you can reach by public transport is the best, hehe.
It's open from 11:30 a.m. to 9:40 p.m., with break time from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. It's closed every Sunday, so please keep that in mind!
What is the atmosphere like at Baekhyang Jipbulgui?

The restaurant has a warm wood-toned interior overall. We went late on a weekday evening, so we could eat in a more relaxed way. You can also book through Naver before visiting, so it should be just right for groups :)

We visited at dinner, so we ordered the gochujang pork straw-fire grill (small). Rice is separate, so we added 2 bowls.
Gochujang pork straw-fire grill: delicious from the first whiff

Once the order went in, we could see flames whooshing up at the very back of the restaurant as our main dish was being made. (Expectations: MAX)

Once all the banchan (side dishes) were set out, the star of the day arrived a little later: the gochujang pork straw-fire grill. The small size is just the right amount for two, and it smelled so good that my mouth watered, not-so-secret confession haha.

Lunch or dinner, I like tasty protein for an energy boost, and Baekhyang Jipbulgui... the meat was mild and tender, and the seasoning was really good too T.T And it wasn't overly salty either, so it was a healthy and tasty Ogeum-dong Korean restaurant. There's no way people would disagree on it, hehe.

So it would be great to go with friends or a partner, and also for office lunches or get-togethers! Now that I know it's good at dinner, I resolved to come back to Baekhyang Jipbulgui next time I'm looking for an Ogeum-dong lunch spot ^^
Self-serve ssam bar and seaweed-flake sesame-oil bibimbap

The fresh ssam (leaf wraps) were the best too. You can bring more from the self-serve bar, there are several kinds, and each went well with the meat, so picking is fun. Honestly, we both don't normally wrap our meat.. but here it was so good that we ate every last one ^.^

On top of that, the self-serve bar has seaweed flakes and sesame oil, plus bowls to mix your rice in. How could you not eat this combo..? When you go, first sprinkle seaweed flakes and sesame oil into a big bowl, then enjoy it with the meat and rice.
How were the banchan and seaweed soup?

Part of why I think Baekhyang Jipbulgui is a great-value Ogeum Station restaurant is the main dish, but also the variety of banchan. Some Korean restaurants disappoint with only salty kimchi-type sides... but this newly discovered Ogeum-dong spot had green namul (seasoned vegetables), and the seasoning was just right overall, 100% my taste T.T

Add a hot, tasty seaweed soup (miyeokguk) on top and I can't not recommend it~! Banchan, main dish and the soup that comes by default made a perfect combination. Totally satisfied :)
Verdict: Baekhyang Jipbulgui near Ogeum Station
Baekhyang Jipbulgui is a short walk from Ogeum Station, so the location is great, and the value is good for lunch or dinner. Naver reservations are available too, and I hope this helps anyone looking for a good spot in Ogeum-dong.
