That distinctive springy texture, that sweet flavor whether you dip it in soy sauce or chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) — I love it so much it makes me love autumn coming even more ❤️

As a raw shrimp sashimi killer myself ✌🏻, I've bought it at Soraepogu and Yeonan Pier, ordered it from Tongsusan, and eaten it at plenty of sashimi restaurants in person — but I want to introduce you to the raw shrimp sashimi spot that was hands down the best I've had in nearly three years!

It was full of fresh seafood,

and among it all, my beloved raw shrimp were swimming around, super fresh(?)..🤤 Sorry shrimp, but you looked way too delicious..ㅠ💧

Inside there were tables right in front of the kitchen,

and even a half outdoor tent seating area was set up,

and on a cool evening like this these days, how could you skip the outdoor tent seats?

I immediately grabbed the last open outdoor tent seat! haha

Ordering the medium raw shrimp sashimi and frying kimchi pancake at the self bar

If it weren't shrimp season, I'd have ordered the couple's set right away, but since it's raw shrimp sashimi season, I ordered the medium raw shrimp sashimi❣️

Veteran General Fish Market has a self-serve side dish bar, and did you know there's a space right next to it where you can fry your own kimchi pancake?🔥

Ah, this one you definitely can't skip either haha

Drizzle the oil generously, scoop a big ladleful of batter on, and spread it out nice and thin — you all know the drill!!!!??

After all, pancake is only its true self when it's thin and crispy, fried almost like deep-frying!??!!🐷

Add more oil generously along the way and brown both sides golden, and you get this beautifully finished pancake✨

And the basic side dishes were totally my style too 👀 buldak mayo, salted pollack roe, white kimchi, seaweed soup, mak-jang, salad — I was already full from the first round but somehow still getting excited about this combo..🤤

Medium raw shrimp sashimi, 35,000 won: as big as king prawns

And now, today's main character makes its entrance — raw shrimp! (Medium size, ₩35,000)

Whoa, that color is insane, right???????????🔥

Kaha, and the mood of the outdoor tent seats was so cozy, I was genuinely just so happy ㅠ

You can see how plump the raw shrimp are ㅠㅠ not tiny little shrimp but as big as king prawns, so one bite completely filled my mouth🤤

First bite dipped in soy sauce, second bite dipped in chojang, and ah, this is happiness, I thought…😇

Personally, it was also delicious topped with sesame-oil-seasoned salted pollack roe, and good with buldak mayo too, but the fundamental combo for raw shrimp sashimi really is soy sauce and chojang..❤️

Wait haha, I noticed this while taking photos haha — why is the shrimp so radiant..? hahaha✨ Genuinely sweet, springy, heavenly flavor..💛

And on top of that, the shrimp heads had savory guts that were a real delicacy..❣️

Seafood ramyeon at 6,500 won completes the autumn set

And ordering seafood ramyeon (₩6,500), the perfect match with raw shrimp, completed my autumn dream set..😚

Packed with shrimp and mussels, plus bean sprouts and a spicy salty broth — ah, the ramyeon was so good too, seriously..💧 It was a dinner where I only intended to diet and did absolutely nothing about it..

Verdict: the best raw shrimp sashimi I've had in three years

When I previously ordered from Tongsusan, it was less sweet than expected and the sizes were all over the place, which was a bit disappointing — but even though the price is a bit different here, with quality like this, I thought ordering it made this way is better than buying it yourself and shelling it at home🤔
