For side dishes, they surprisingly served dried radish (mumallaengi) and braised soybeans (kongjaban)! Both had such deep savory flavor that I could tell the owner really knows how to cook.
Does the thick egg roll go with kimchi jjigae?
The egg roll we ordered alongside the kimchi jjigae exceeded expectations. It came in generous thick slices, and the golden-browned surface looked really appetizing!

One bite in, the moist, soft texture stood out. After the spicy kimchi jjigae, pairing it with the egg roll gave my mouth a gentle break.

The natural savory flavor of the egg really came through, setting it apart from a watery egg roll — a menu that everyone from kids to adults would like. Personally, it paired so well with the kimchi jjigae that I'd recommend ordering the set!
How the kimchi jjigae tastes: spice level and broth depth
The kimchi jjigae at Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal arrives still bubbling. The moment it landed on the table, the first thing I noticed was the deep kimchi aroma. It got my appetite going just from looking at it! You just let it simmer a bit longer before eating.

The broth was pleasantly tangy-spicy with deep savory notes. It wasn't too spicy or intense, so it's the kind of style anyone could enjoy! The refreshing tang from well-fermented kimchi blended nicely with the savory meat, and it was the kind of flavor that makes a bowl of rice disappear in no time. Hahaha.
In particular, the sourness of the kimchi and the depth of the broth were well balanced, so I really felt the classic charm of kimchi jjigae that Koreans love.
Pork belly cooked whole, then ramyeon noodles in the pot
What surprised me most was the thick pork belly! It comes cooked whole so you can cut it to your liking, and the generous portion really showed the owner's generosity — a real Dongtan gem. The meat quality was excellent too, clean and mild with no off smell.

Meat, then ramyeon noodles on top... so good.
