Grilled mackerel set at a Yeoju hanjeongsik spot: Nadeulmok Yeoju

We took a fun weekend trip to Yeoju with my kid. Lately my child has been really into bugs and insects, so this time we visited the Yeoju Insect Museum. After spending an exciting stretch looking at all kinds of insects, we got hungry before we knew it.

When eating out with a kid, taste matters, but so does whether there's something the child can actually eat, and whether the place is easy to get to.

Maybe because it was the weekend, the restaurant had quite a few guests and there was a slight wait. Still, we waited it out with delicious Korean food in mind, sat down, and ordered the signature Nadeulmok Set.

I picked the flesh off the nicely grilled mackerel and put it on top of the rice, and my kid really dug in. Seeing my child eat so much more rice than usual made me quietly proud and happy, haha. The adults got to try a bit of everything from the side dishes, while my kid stuck with the grilled mackerel and rice — an easy setup for a family meal.

Our itinerary was: Yeoju Insect Museum → eat at Nadeulmok → head home. Running around all day with a kid wears the parents out too, but after filling up on good Korean food, we could head home feeling a lot more at ease.

Especially for anyone touring Yeoju by car, the restaurant's proximity to the IC made it easy to get on the highway right after eating. No detours needed, so it works well as the last meal stop on a trip with your kid too. This is also a Yeoju rice specialty restaurant where you can really taste Yeoju's pride and joy: chewy, well-cooked rice. Made with good rice, it's sweet and sticky enough to eat on its own, a flavor anyone would like. It's also close to Yeoju Premium Outlets and some well-known golf courses, making it a perfect spot to fill up before or after shopping or a round of golf. A course that nailed both taste and convenience!
