Yeoju Korean restaurant for a family lunch: Seorak Makguksu

Every weekend, I find myself wondering where to have lunch with my child. This weekend, I was craving dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) for the first time in a while, so we went to Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yeoju IC Branch (설악막국수 춘천닭갈비 여주IC점). What I liked most was that it was such an easy place to eat with a child.

Since we were visiting with our 32-month-old, I was a little more careful about choosing the menu. We tried the soy sauce-flavored dakgalbi that day, and our child ate far better than I expected. It made for a very satisfying weekend family meal.

Easy parking when visiting with a child

The signature dish at Seorak Makguksu Chuncheon Dakgalbi Yeoju IC Branch is charcoal-grilled dakgalbi. The chicken comes partially cooked, so we did not have to wait long before eating. Its subtle charcoal aroma was truly delicious.

Because we were eating with our 32-month-old, we chose the soy sauce-flavored dakgalbi. Spicy seasoned dakgalbi can be a little much for a child, but the soy sauce version was relatively mild and suitable for sharing with one.

More than anything, our child ate so well that day. I cut the chicken into easy-to-eat pieces, and our child happily accepted each one and ate more than I expected, which made me really happy as a mom. The portions were generous for one serving too, so two servings plus an extra-large makguksu (buckwheat noodles) filled up the three of us—my husband, our child, and me—just perfectly~

This style was definitely easier for eating while looking after a child than having to keep turning and grilling everything ourselves. Because the dakgalbi is grilled over charcoal, it had that gentle smoky flavor, and the chicken was tender and easy to eat.

When eating out with a child, sometimes the adults enjoy their food while the child has nothing to eat except rice or side dishes. The best part of this meal was that our child could enjoy the dakgalbi with us too.

A meal for three with extra-large makguksu

After visiting myself, I could see why this place is so often introduced as a good restaurant in Yeoju. Parking was easy, and the staff grilled the partially cooked dakgalbi, which made the meal comfortable. Most of all, our 32-month-old ate the soy sauce dakgalbi so well! When you are dining out with a child, that is what matters most, right? 😊

We ordered the makguksu in an extra-large size, and I liked that the portion was generous. My husband enjoyed it because it had the distinctive savory flavor of makguksu.

It was satisfying as a family meal because it was not a menu that suited only adult palates—we could share it with our child too. If you are looking for somewhere to have lunch with a child in Yeoju, or want charcoal-grilled dakgalbi with your family on the weekend, I think it is worth stopping by.

Dip it in the spicy sauce and it is just right for adult tastes too.
