Family cutlassfish set at a Yeoju Korean restaurant: Nadeulmok

In short

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is a Korean restaurant in Yeoju, Gyeonggi, serving Yeoju-rice hot-stone-pot meals and braised cutlassfish sets. After waiting during the lunch rush, I had braised cutlassfish, spicy stir-fried pork, soybean-paste stew, and plentiful side dishes for 25,000 won per person. Verdict: a satisfying choice for a generous family meal in Yeoju.

The day I had Yeoju rice in a hot stone pot and braised cutlassfish

I went to Yeoju and had a seriously proper meal at Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap 🤤🍚 When you think of Yeoju, it has to be that glossy, gleaming Yeoju rice, right? ✨

If you’re looking for a great Korean set-menu restaurant in Yeoju, this one might be worth saving 👀📌 It’s a nice stop during a Yeoju trip, and the location is perfect for a meal before or after outlet shopping. Maybe because it’s such a popular Yeoju restaurant, I arrived right in the lunch rush and had to wait.... Sigh..... I recommend checking the time before you go ⏰

A bright, spacious dining room

Once inside, it was much cleaner and brighter than the typical Korean set-menu restaurant vibe 👀 The wood-toned decor made it feel pleasant, and even with lots of people, the tables were spaced far enough apart that it didn’t feel cramped!

I immediately thought it would be a good place to bring your parents. And customers just kept coming in, seriously. Hahaha. There were families, couples, and older diners too—the age range was really diverse 😳 I thought, yep, this must be one of Yeoju’s go-to Korean set-menu spots.

Ordering the braised cutlassfish set

I didn’t even have to think about it while looking at the menu! I was craving a savory, spicy seasoning 🌶️🔥 so I ordered the braised cutlassfish set.

After ordering and waiting a moment, the pre-meal dishes started arriving one by one before the main spread came out.

Fresh lettuce salad, warm and nutty mung-bean jelly, chewy japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and crispy fried eggplant too ✨

I liked that even the first dishes weren’t overly seasoned. They were so easy to keep picking at, haha! And this fried eggplant 🍆🔥 At first I thought it was simply crispy fried eggplant, but there was meat inside, which made it much more substantial. Crispy outside! Moist inside!

Then finally, the main spread arrived—and the side dishes just kept coming, hahaha.

With Korean set meals, the moment all those side dishes cover the table, you can’t help but think you came to the right place 🤤

Glossy Yeoju rice in a hot stone pot

Then the hot stone pot filled with Yeoju rice arrived, sending up a burst of steam and that warm, nutty rice aroma ♨️🍚 The grains were so glossy... I tried a spoonful first, and they were plump with a lovely chew. Even plain, without any side dishes, the rice had a subtle sweetness and was so delicious. I scooped the rice into a bowl first, then poured hot water into the stone pot to get sungnyung (toasted-rice infusion), the Korean dessert, ready in advance!

Braised cutlassfish seasoning that makes you want rice

And then the main braised cutlassfish 🐟🌶️ Thick pieces of fish were thoroughly soaked in red seasoning, enough to make your mouth water just looking at them... The best way is to pull off some tender fish, place it on freshly cooked Yeoju rice, and add a little seasoning on top.

Tender cutlassfish, a deeply savory and warming seasoning, plus sticky Yeoju rice. If you love braised cutlassfish, you’d need two bowls of rice, right? The sauce wasn’t sharply spicy or overwhelming—it was the kind of savory flavor that keeps you reaching for rice! Especially the radish! The seasoning had seeped right through, so mixing it into the rice was basically heaven.. 😭🍚

There was soybean-paste stew and spicy stir-fried pork alongside it too—how can those two dishes be side dishes?! Owner, are you making any profit?? They were honestly as delicious as the main dish! The soybean-paste stew especially, whew. Its rich soybean-paste flavor was deep and wonderfully nutty. I’d eat braised cutlassfish, then pork, then seasoned vegetables, then a spoonful of stew... and one bowl of rice disappeared in no time. Finally, it was time for hot nurungji (scorched rice) from the stone pot I had filled with water earlier ♨️

Maybe because the Yeoju rice itself was so good, the sungnyung was nutty with a subtle sweetness—literally perfect as dessert, haha. It really felt like I’d had a properly filling meal~! Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap was a solid place to visit when you want a comforting Korean set meal in Yeoju.

With such a variety of seasoned vegetable dishes, plus soybean-paste stew and spicy stir-fried pork, it was such a generous spread~ so I think it would be great to visit with older family members too.
