Yeoju Korean restaurant for aged beef: Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk

In short

Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip is an aged-beef Korean restaurant in Yeoju, Gyeonggi, near Yeoju Premium Outlets. After a shopping date, we had 500g of iron-pan beef, cabbage doenjang-guk, and jjapaguri while the staff cooked the meat for us. Verdict: a filling, dependable post-shopping meal.

Last weekend, the weather was so lovely that I finally got all my overdue housework done, then went on a shopping date at Yeoju Premium Outlets with my husband for the first time in ages :3 I scored a bag, and by the time we finished shopping, we were completely wiped out haha. You know, right? After shopping, a hearty meat meal is essential for restoring your energy!

Meat restaurant visited after shopping at Yeoju Outlets

Today's mission was to find a foolproof place for beef near Yeoju Outlets, and the spot my husband diligently found through searching was Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip. It was close to the outlets, and there were so many reviews saying the meat was amazing, so off we went!!

A convenient location and parking after outlet shopping

The place we visited is near Namyeoju IC, making it the perfect stop after outlet shopping. Even the exterior had this air of a place with serious know-how! Best of all, the parking lot was huge, so even a nervous driver like me could probably park comfortably.

The sign at the entrance made it clear that they specialize in Korean beef, pork belly, and baechu doenjang-guk (cabbage soybean-paste soup). Just seeing the words “cast-iron pan” had my heart fluttering already.

A neat, spacious spread of side dishes

The interior was incredibly clean. The tables were generously spaced too, so it looked easy to visit with family or after a round of golf with a group! I heard it is also popular with golfers because there are many courses nearby, including Ariji CC, Geumgang CC, and Solmoro CC.

As soon as we settled in, the basic spread was quickly set out. True to the restaurant's name, the baechu doenjang-guk was seriously delicious. It was so refreshing and savory that I got two refills haha. There were also various pickled sides that go beautifully with meat, plus salt and wasabi!

The pickled sides in particular were not overly salty, with just the right sweet-and-tangy flavor to wake up the appetite. You could tell care had gone into every single side dish :)

Aged beef grilled on a cast-iron pan

At last, the beef we ordered arrived! I already love aged meat, so my expectations were high, and the moment it came out I was practically drooling haha. You could tell at a glance that it was truly high quality.

Aged beef grilled on a cast-iron pan

The defining feature here is that they grill the meat on this blazing-hot cast-iron pan. Cast iron conducts heat well, so it quickly seals in the juices, leaving the outside crisp and the inside moist, you know~? It is hard to cook it like this at home, and just looking at that pan made me feel the flavor was guaranteed ♡ (I am genuinely considering buying a cast-iron pan now.)

My husband and I are famously terrible at grilling meat, but here they cook it for you. They even cut it to the most delicious size!! Meat grilled by a professional really is on another level ♡

A juicy bite with salt and wasabi

The delicious smell as the meat cooked was absolutely incredible!

They cut the beef, neatly grilled on the cast-iron pan, into easy-to-eat pieces. When I took a bite, I am honestly not kidding—it just melted in my mouth! I tried the first piece with only a little salt, and the deep flavor and juices unique to aged beef burst all through my mouth. Wow, properly grilled good meat tastes this good.

Next, I tried it with a little wasabi. The sharp wasabi neatly cut through the richness of the beef, giving it another kind of appeal. The meat itself was so good with every side dish that the two of us polished off 500g in no time haha.

Cabbage doenjang-guk and meat-fat jjapaguri

The generous baechu doenjang-guk served in a brass bowl was wonderfully savory from the aroma alone, just like something I used to eat at my grandmother's house. So, so good! The broth was really deep and rich. Packed with cabbage, it was sweet and refreshing, and felt like it cleared away the richness of the meat in one go. After eating meat, this baechu doenjang-guk is an absolute must!

And finally, jjapaguri (a mix of jjajang ramen and spicy noodles), which we ordered at my husband's strong insistence!! They cooked the black-bean noodles in the fat left after grilling the meat on the cast-iron pan, and honestly, the look of it alone was unfair.

Jjapaguri infused with that savory meat aroma—how could it possibly not be delicious? It is a flavor kids would really love too, so next time I am definitely bringing the kids back ♡ It was a perfect weekend: shopping, then properly recharging with delicious meat.

For anyone going to Yeoju Outlets, or to nearby golf courses such as Ariji CC, I would strongly recommend Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip as a restaurant that will not let you down.
