Apgujeong nail salon open till 9 pm, Melona green gel: Naeil Didi

Naeil Didi is a nail salon known for wedding nails, on the 6th floor of a building near Apgujeongnodeo Station in Gangnam, Seoul. After work one evening, I had my old gel removed at Naeil Didi and got a basic one-color (₩50,000) in Melona green, the pale green of the Korean melon ice-cream bar. The removal was careful and never stung, even on my long nail beds, and the care was thorough. Open until 9 pm, Naeil Didi is a good pick for Gangnam office workers who want one-color nails after work.

Bangi Station BBQ: kkodeulsal, chicken feet, Cheongha at Dangsan Odol

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is a charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station in Songpa, Seoul, serving special pork cuts, beef, lamb and chicken feet. The writer had one serving each of kkodeulsal (pork back neck, ₩18,000) and snowflake galbi (₩25,000), then haejang sulbap (hangover rice soup, ₩15,000) and spicy charcoal chicken feet (₩18,000), all with Cheongha rice wine. Verdict: the chewy kkodeulsal, the generous haejang sulbap and the chicken feet finished with mayo made Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch a satisfying meal.

Summer-trip pork BBQ in Gwangalli: 3 cuts at ₩14,000 each, Jukrim

Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui (죽림숯불돼지구이) is a charcoal-grilled pork restaurant on Gwangnam-ro in Suyeong-gu, Busan, a 4-minute walk from Exit 3 of Geumnyeonsan Station. On a summer vacation in Busan, the writer ordered one serving each of Iberico pluma, Iberico rib meat and aged fresh pork belly, 3 servings in total at ₩14,000 each, and the staff handled everything from greasing the grill with pork fat to the grilling itself. If raw fish alone feels like a waste of a Gwangalli visit and you want real charcoal flavor, Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui is the place.

Maenggu Pocha Gwang-an Main Branch (맹구포차 광안본점) is a 90s-style Korean pub near Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan. With sugar-coated gunbbang (Korean hardtack) as the free starter, Buldak mayo sauce and coin-traded school-store snacks, Maenggu Pocha Gwang-an Main Branch was fun right to the end.
