Bamridan-gil interior: why Kitsuki draws date and blind-date couples

Being right on Bamridan-gil, Kitsuki has that stylish, on-trend interior.

The inside was decorated so tastefully too. Maybe that's why it seemed popular as a date spot — I even spotted some people clearly on a blind date!!

You could tell the owner put real thought into the interior — eating in a nice-looking space just puts you in a better mood, and that's exactly what Kitsuki is like 😁

Signature menu signage on the table at Kitsuki

The board listed everything from udon, katsu, and rice dishes to how to eat them, and the table itself had the signature items written out!! Their sang-rosu katsu is apparently super famous and I really wanted to try it, but it was sold out — next time ㅜㅜ

Booking ahead and ordering three dishes at Kitsuki

We agonized over the menu for a while and, wanting to try a bit of everything, ordered three dishes. Just tonkatsu alone felt like it wasn't quite enough, so we picked an udon too, and since I was curious about cheese-topped katsu, we added hire + cheese! We visited with a reservation!!

This time, wanting to sample a bit of everything, we ordered hire + cheese / perilla cream udon / assorted katsu 🫶🏻

How good is Kitsuki's perilla cream udon?

The perilla cream udon (₩13,000) is udon in truffle oil with perilla seeds. I'd had this unique flavor before and kept thinking about it, so I ordered it as a sort of side — so good!! This taste is only possible at Kitsuki ♥️

What's in the assorted katsu, plus the hire and cheese katsu

Kitsuki's assorted katsu comes with fried shrimp, hire katsu, and rosu katsu, so you get to try a variety — definitely recommend the assorted set!!!

Hire katsu + cheese katsu — hire and cheese are truly the best combo. The hire katsu here is seriously, unbelievably tender. You just bite and it melts. Why is it like this. My mouth is watering just thinking about it ㅜㅜ

We're big eaters so we ordered 3, but the portions weren't small — so it's totally fine to order just 1 per person, and pair it with the perilla cream udon!!!

Ranking the three Kitsuki dishes and the final verdict

💭 Overall thoughts. I tried three dishes this time, and among what I picked, my ranking is: 1st 🥇 assorted katsu, 2nd 🥈 hire + cheese, 3rd 🥉 perilla cream udon!

The hire I had in the assorted katsu was especially memorable. If you like soft, tender tonkatsu, go for the hire; if you want to taste a bit of everything, go for the assorted katsu! If I come back, I'd go straight for assorted katsu + hire without a second thought haha. If you're craving tonkatsu in Ilsan and looking for a good date-course restaurant, Kitsuki is well worth a stop!
