Inside there were 6–7 tables, and I loved that the spacing between them was wide haha. The tables themselves were spacious too

One of Kitsuki's charms is the soft lighting and vintage interior ☆*:.。. It almost feels like walking into an interior design showroom?!! It gives off such a cozy, stylish vibe that it's perfect either as a nice-atmosphere restaurant on Bamridan-gil or as a date-night spot

✔️ Every dish is cooked to order the moment you order it, so it takes a bit of time to prepare

The order: rosukatsu, hire plus cheese katsu and perilla cream udon

This time we ordered rosukatsu ₩13,000, hire+cheese katsu ₩16,000, perilla cream udon ₩13,000, and 2 canned sodas for ₩4,000.

@perilla cream udon Perilla cream udon is udon with thick cream, chewy udon noodles, and perilla seeds and oil. Even the look of it screams richness…….🤍

I mixed the perilla seeds, perilla oil, cream sauce, and all the toppings well with the noodles before eating, and the noodles themselves were plump and chewy so it couldn't not be good…. The combination of the rich white cream and perilla gives your mouth a full nutty flavor that's honestly addictive — the kind of udon where you keep reaching for more haha. The toppings are mushroom and green onion, and both cut through the cream cleanly, so they went great together

And then came the cheese+hire and rosu katsu, plated in a way that looked really appetizing

Hire plus cheese katsu, 16,000 won

@hire+cheese katsu They said it's best to try the cheese one first, so I did — the hire+cheese katsu. This dish lets you enjoy tender hirekatsu and chewy cheese katsu at the same time, and comes with rice, soup, side dishes, sauce, and salad

Cheese stretching from the cheese katsu

I dug in quickly before the cheese cooled down, and the soft, chewy cheese stretched out beautifully — the light, savory taste of the cheese katsu was so good! Cheese katsu can easily get cloying or greasy, but Kitsuki's cheese katsu had none of that, so it was fine to eat even without sauce

Cross-section of hirekatsu made from black pork tenderloin

The hirekatsu is made from Jirisan Berkshire K black pork tenderloin — crispy on the outside, juicy and moist inside. Being the tenderloin cut, the texture was noticeably soft and the flavor mild, pairing nicely with plain white rice

Crispy outside, tender inside — this rosukatsu is a loin cut but nearly as tender as the tenderloin! It especially went well with the perilla cream udon

Mixing in the side dishes and rice along the way made for the ultimate tonkatsu combo haha

Is Kitsuki Ilsan Bamridan-gil worth a visit?

This is the best tonkatsu spot on Bamridan-gil, especially for hirekatsu, so I'd definitely recommend trying the hire! That's my visit to Kitsuki Ilsan Bamridan-gil Branch, a Bamridan-gil favorite for tonkatsu ♡
