When you want to spend time with your dog, one of the biggest questions is where you can actually go together. Rather than just an ordinary dog café where you sip coffee, I wanted somewhere my dog could run around freely while I could also relax and eat something good.
This time I visited Gaeddae Playground, a dog café in Byeollae, Namyangju. Fun name aside, this is a place where you can bring your dog to play hard, and when you get hungry, order soupy tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and pepperoni pizza — a solid full-day spot for you and your pup.

What kind of dog café is Gaeddae Playground?
Gaeddae Playground is a space in Jingeon-eup, Namyangju, where you can spend time together with your dog. If you're a dog owner, it's worth visiting at least once. When choosing a dog café, you naturally think about whether your dog can move around comfortably, whether the space for owners is decent, and whether you can enjoy food and drinks together.

Gaeddae Playground felt built around letting the dog run around while the owner watches and relaxes. If your dog seems to want a bit more than just a regular walk, this is a good place to give them something special.
Especially if you've felt like there aren't many places to take your dog out, this is worth keeping in mind when searching for a Namyangju dog café.

Dogs run off-leash while owners eat
At Gaeddae Playground you can order soupy tteokbokki and pepperoni pizza and actually get a full meal. At some dog cafés, only the dog has fun while the owner just sips a plain drink — but this time we ordered both the tteokbokki and the pizza.
After your dog plays for a while, you naturally get hungry too, so being able to eat a proper meal on the spot was great.

Soupy tteokbokki at Gaeddae Playground
First up was the soupy tteokbokki. Tteokbokki is always an easy, comforting dish, but eating it while watching your dog run around at a dog café gave it a different kind of fun than eating it at a regular snack shop.
Spicy with a good amount of broth, it was perfect for a light bite when you're peckish. If you like tteokbokki, it fits right in as something to order at a dog café — a great choice when you want to combine playtime and a meal.

Crispy, salty pepperoni pizza
Alongside the tteokbokki, we ordered pepperoni pizza. Pizza is one of the easiest things to share at a dog café. The pepperoni gave it a salty, savory flavor, and eating it with the tteokbokki felt like enjoying Korean snack food and pizza at the same time.
If you're visiting with a group, ordering tteokbokki and pizza separately to share is a great combo. Time flies faster than expected when you're playing with your dog, so it was nice to be able to take a break and eat in the middle of it.
Also, book through Naver reservations and you get unlimited self-serve fried eggs, so enjoy as many as you like.

Where to go with your dog in Namyangju
One of the frustrating things about having a dog is that there really aren't that many places you can go together. Even at cafés or restaurants, you have to check in advance whether dogs are allowed, and also consider whether your dog will feel comfortable in an unfamiliar environment.
That's why visiting a dedicated dog café has the advantage of letting both owner and dog relax a bit more.

Gaeddae Playground was good in that sense too — you can play with your dog, snap some great shots at the dog-only photo zone, and rest with some food as the owner. It's also a good option on days when the weather is bad for walks, or when you want to give your dog a new kind of experience.

What to check before visiting Gaeddae Playground
Since a dog café is a space shared with dogs, unlike a regular café, it's good to check a few things beforehand. Operating hours, fees, parking availability, and usage rules can change over time, so I'd recommend checking the latest info before you head out.
It's also worth considering your dog's temperament and how well they socialize with other dogs. If it's your dog's first visit, it's important for you to stay nearby and watch how they're doing so they don't get overwhelmed.
