Bucheon bar for outdoor pastry pizza: People & Peoples

I was craving pizza and beer, so I visited People & Peoples (피플앤피플즈) in Sang-dong, Bucheon. I went with my husband and baby, and we chose an outdoor table. The cool evening breeze made it a lovely night to eat and drink outside.

Where is People & Peoples in Bucheon?

It’s near Exit 7 of Sangdong Station. The address is 17-28 Gilju-ro 121beon-gil, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, South Korea, on the first floor of Gukcheon Building (경기도 부천시 원미구 길주로121번길 17-28, 국천빌딩 1층). Lasagna and pastry pizza were listed as signature dishes.

Why did we choose outdoor seating with our baby?

Inside, the lighting was dim and the atmosphere was calm. The bottles of alcohol around the room and the soft lighting caught my eye, but I worried our baby might touch the bottles beside the seats, so we sat outside.

There were plenty of people outside that day, perhaps because the weather was cool. Soft lighting hung outside too, giving it the feel of an outdoor drinking spot. Eating out with a baby means keeping an eye on lots of things, but the open space let me relax a little more over our meal.

What did we order with our beer?

We chose a pizza marked as a best pick among the pastry pizzas. I wanted to try the lasagna too, but thought it would be too filling alongside pizza, so we ordered gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic and olive oil). We had draft beer with both dishes.

How did the gambas go with beer?

The gambas had plenty of shrimp and garlic. There was a lot of oil, but the slight heat kept it from tasting too rich.

I dipped the crisp bread in the olive oil and topped it with garlic and shrimp. It was a combination that went well with beer.

What were the pastry pizza’s toppings and texture like?

Our pizza had a variety of toppings. The menu described a pastry crust topped with spicy Jeju pork bulgogi (marinated meat), sweet potato mousse, pepperoni, potato flakes, chili shrimp, Reggiano cheese, and honey butter.

The potato flakes tasted like potatoes sprinkled with seasoning, and there was plenty of chili shrimp and cheese. The pastry crust was crisp and didn’t feel heavy on my stomach. Still, sharing the pizza and gambas between two people left us very full.

What was the review promotion during our visit?

During our visit, a promotion offered a choice of soju (Korean distilled liquor), bottled beer, cola, or cider (lemon-lime soda) for writing a review.

When would I come back?

I’d come back on a cool evening when I wanted pizza and beer outside with family or my partner. What stayed with me from this visit was the openness of the outdoor seating, the crisp pizza, and the spicy gambas.
