Yeongtong sushi with ₩9,000 beef tartare mulhoe: Teukbyeolhan Chobap

In short

Teukbyeolhan Chobap is a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant on the second floor of the Classia Yeongtong building in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, where every plate is a flat ₩1,890. On this tenth visit the writer booked through Catch Table, waited 15 minutes to get in, picked soy-marinated shrimp, beef tartare and eel sushi off the rail, then ordered flying fish roe temaki and ₩9,000 Korean beef tartare mulhoe (chilled raw beef and vegetable soup) from the menu. With so many kinds of sushi that nothing gets boring and a mulhoe that is generous for the price, Teukbyeolhan Chobap is an easy recommendation for good-value sushi in Suwon.

Today's post is an honest review of Teukbyeolhan Chobap, a famous conveyor-belt sushi restaurant in Yeongtong, Suwon! I've actually been here about 10 times now, hehe.

Where is Teukbyeolhan Chobap, and how long is the wait with a Catch Table booking?

Teukbyeolhan Chobap is located on the 2nd floor of the Classia Yeongtong officetel building!

This Yeongtong sushi favorite is so popular there's a wait pretty much every day. There are always so many customers that I really recommend booking through Catch Table before you go. If you show up without a reservation, you could end up waiting an hour, ugh.

We booked through Catch Table this time and got seated after about a 15-minute wait!

Table seating after being shown in

Seating and table setup at Teukbyeolhan Chobap, plus the roulette and receipt review events

Teukbyeolhan Chobap has seating that works whether you're eating solo, on a date, or with the whole family, which I liked. Each table comes with pickled ginger, wasabi, takuan (pickled radish), and soy sauce for the sushi, ready to help yourself to — really convenient!

There are also some events posted on the wall by the table! A roulette event and a receipt review event 🎡. Scan the QR code on the wall and spin to win various prizes, from store points to free sushi plates! For the receipt review event, you get a drink or a plate of sushi, so definitely take part :)

Every plate ₩1,890: what comes around on the conveyor rail

Inside, the conveyor rail stretches out long around the kitchen, with all kinds of sushi constantly circling. The reason I keep coming back to Teukbyeolhan Chobap, visit after visit, is exactly this — the sheer number of sushi varieties! At other conveyor-belt sushi places, you get bored after a few plates because the selection is limited, but here there's such a huge range that you never get tired of it. And every single plate is a flat ₩1,890 — incredible value!

Sushi I tried and recommend

Soy-sauce shrimp sushi taken from the rail
A plate of braised fish sushi

My favorite soy-sauce shrimp sushi and a braised fish(?) sushi! Both were delicious as always — the soy-sauce shrimp is so chewy and rich, you have to try it!

Seasoned beef tartare sushi
A plate of taco wasabi sushi

Beef tartare sushi with an amazing seasoning, and my husband's favorite taco wasabi sushi

A plate of seasoned shrimp sushi
Salted tuna akami sushi

Seasoned shrimp sushi, and tuna sushi (akami). The tuna sushi unusually comes with salt on top — it was well-seasoned even without dipping it in soy sauce!

A plate of the writer's favorite sushi

This one's another favorite of mine. If you don't see it on the rail, definitely ask for it!!

A plate of eel sushi
Beef sushi topped with garlic chips

Great-quality eel sushi and beef sushi piled high with garlic chips

Ordering from the menu: flying fish roe temaki and ₩9,000 Korean beef tartare mulhoe

Teukbyeolhan Chobap also has a separate menu on the table, in case there's something you want that's not on the rail, or you'd like a proper meal item — worth noting! I looked at the menu and ordered flying fish roe temaki and beef tartare mulhoe.

Separately ordered flying fish roe temaki

Flying fish roe temaki! It'd been so long since I'd had this, and it was so good — why did I ever stop eating it?!

A bowl of beef tartare mulhoe
Beef tartare mulhoe piled with beef and vegetables

Honestly, when I ordered the beef tartare mulhoe I thought, why bother at a conveyor-belt sushi place? But once it arrived I was really satisfied. First of all, the portion is huge! At ₩9,000, I found myself wondering if this much food could really be right at this price. There's a generous heap of beef tartare, plus plenty of vegetables and squid, making for a much more filling bowl than I expected. Genuinely the ultimate value item.

A plate of grilled salmon head on the rail

Grilled salmon head also circles on the rail!! And it's ₩1,890 too, unbelievable...

Watermelon and orange eaten for dessert

Dessert fruits circle the rail too — the watermelon and orange I tried were incredibly sweet. Even the fruit is on point at Teukbyeolhan Chobap...

Is Teukbyeolhan Chobap in Yeongtong worth it? Final verdict

  • Sushi at a flat ₩1,890 a plate is excellent value
  • Such a wide variety of sushi that you never get bored
  • One of Yeongtong's most popular conveyor-belt sushi spots, with a wait almost every day
  • The sushi overall was fresh and delicious
  • The beef tartare mulhoe especially is very generously portioned for the price — highly recommended
  • The roulette event gives you a shot at prizes from points to free sushi plates

Overall, Teukbyeolhan Chobap, a Yeongtong favorite, delivered on price, menu, variety, and freshness — nothing fell short. What I liked most was the ₩1,890-per-plate price, and with dining out getting so expensive these days, it's a low-pressure way to try lots of different sushi. I really recommend it to anyone looking for a good-value sushi restaurant.
