I'd always thought Jeong Jiyeong Coffee only existed in the alleys of its Haenggung-dong flagship, but it turns out there's a branch on the 2nd floor of Starfield too.

Being able to enjoy local coffee comfortably inside Starfield, without the hassle of driving or parking in Haenggung-dong's notoriously busy alleys, meant I visited without a second thought. It's also a can't-miss choice for coffee lovers searching for a Suwon Starfield restaurant worth trying.

Walking into the 2nd floor food hall (Gourmet Street) line and passing by all the tempting restaurants, the wood-toned storefront catches your eye right at the entrance, so even first-timers won't get lost. It's right in the middle of the shopping flow, making it very convenient to reach.

Is the seating comfortable for a mall café?

For a mall café, Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch had surprisingly generous, comfortable spacing between tables. Cafés inside large complex malls are usually takeout-focused or have cramped seating that feels stuffy. But once we stepped inside Jeong Jiyeong, the seating was more spacious and pleasant than I expected.

For my friend, tired from the long drive, and for me, with sore legs from shopping, there were comfortable seats to lean back and rest in, all set within a warm wood interior. The warm decor combined with soft lighting created a cozy hideout feeling where you could relax calmly even in the middle of a busy mall.

What's in the Jeong Jiyeong Coffee goods pop-up zone?

One thing that really caught my eye at the Starfield Suwon branch was a separate pop-up zone set up apart from the café's own house-made goods!

Posters, T-shirts, and eco bags with Jeong Jiyeong Coffee's signature vintage-yet-hip mood were tastefully displayed all over the café walls, making it feel like stepping into a small curated boutique.

And on one side, there was a dedicated goods pop-up zone packed full of Jeong Jiyeong Coffee's identity.

Various single-origin beans used in-store and signature blend beans, along with drip bags handy for brewing easily at home or the office, were neatly displayed by type in clean packaging.

There were also mugs, tumblers, hats, and keyrings neatly stamped with Jeong Jiyeong Coffee's signature typography — lifestyle items that really stirred up the urge to collect. Browsing the pop-up zone with my friend while waiting for our order was genuinely fun. There's a joy in experiencing the brand itself, not just the coffee flavor.

Menu and dessert showcase

The menu, like every other Jeong Jiyeong Coffee location, had a solid lineup befitting a specialty shop — signature drinks, basic americano and lattes, and a wide selection of specialty beans.

Inside the showcase were desserts that pair wonderfully with coffee, generously arranged.

How does the decaf coconut coffee taste?

Normally I'd have picked the 'Summer Latte' with ice cream without hesitation — my all-time favorite menu item — but since we'd planned to get ice cream later in the evening, I cleanly gave it up, and my friend and I both ordered decaf coconut coffee to match! Our drinks came out quickly too, so we didn't have to wait long.

A sweet, smooth coconut base topped with rich, bitter espresso poured out in a beautiful gradient — the visual alone drew a gasp. Giving it a light stir with the straw and taking the first sip, the smooth, nutty sweetness of coconut spread creamily across my mouth. Following that, the bitterness of the espresso balanced out the sweetness. My friend and I are both coconut lovers, so we were making a fuss over it haha.

What made this so appealing was being able to enjoy local specialty coffee inside a large mall with convenient parking, plus a stylish goods pop-up zone, without having to travel all the way to the Haenggung-dong flagship.
