Gwangalli pizza café for a Chuseok date: Working Holiday Minrak

In short

Working Holiday Minrak is a pizza and pasta café on the 7th floor of Bada Maru on Minrak Subyeon-ro in Suyeong, Busan, looking straight out at Gwangan Bridge. Over the Chuseok holiday the writer came with her husband for a Margherita pizza baked from biga-fermented dough, fresh-pasta cuttlefish aglio olio, beer and cola. With Gwangan Bridge filling the floor-to-ceiling windows, Working Holiday Minrak made an easy holiday date course.

Gwangan Bridge window seats and the room at Working Holiday Minrak

The moment you step into Working Holiday Minrak, Gwangan Bridge unfolds panoramically through the picture windows. Maybe because the brand started out of Australian café culture, the entrance itself was full of that laid-back, relaxed feel.

Walking into this dream of an ocean-view spot, the panoramic sweep of Gwangan Bridge through the windows immediately grabbed my attention!

You can take in the wide-open blue sea by day and the glittering night view of Gwangan Bridge in the evening, so it would work just as well as a Gwangalli brunch café or an evening date spot.

The space is spacious with generous gaps between tables, great for chatting quietly with my husband, and I could see it working well for family gatherings or group meetups too.

What we ordered for a Chuseok holiday date

For this Chuseok holiday date we picked the Margherita pizza made with Viga-fermented Naples-style dough, the cuttlefish aglio olio pasta with its addictive spicy savoriness, and a cold beer and cola to go with it!

Margherita wood-fired pizza and cuttlefish aglio olio pasta on the table

1. Margherita pizza, Naples-style from the wood-fired oven

They say the dough here is fermented daily using the Viga method and aged for a long time before baking. Maybe that's why the first bite was so light yet incredibly chewy — it was art. The savory mozzarella, tangy tomato sauce, and basil came together beautifully for that deep, authentic Naples-style flavor. Being able to happily eat all the way to the chewy crust edge confirms this is a genuine Gwangalli pizza spot!

2. Cuttlefish aglio olio made with fresh pasta

Working Holiday uses fresh-cut pasta, so the noodle texture is really something special.

The chewy, springy fresh noodles were loaded with plump cuttlefish, so every bite had real chew to it. The oil-based sauce had just the right amount of spice and plenty of garlic aroma, which cut through any richness that pasta can sometimes have.

3. Cold beer and cola with the pizza

Chewy wood-fired pizza and spicy-yet-clean oil pasta paired with a cold beer and a refreshing cola — no words needed! Sipping a beer while looking out at Gwangan Bridge, all the holiday tiredness just melted away.

Why Working Holiday Minrak works as a Gwangalli date spot

  • The best view — you can look out at Gwangan Bridge and the sea from pretty much any window seat while enjoying a relaxed meal
  • The combination of chewy wood-fired pizza on Viga-aged dough and fresh-cut pasta with real bite
  • A space that works for a romantic date, family dinner, meetups with friends, or brunch

This Chuseok holiday date with my husband turned into a genuinely happy memory, thanks to the great food and the incredible view.

If you're looking for a Gwangalli café recommendation or a date/dining spot, I'd definitely suggest checking out 'Working Holiday Minrak' in Minrak-dong!
