Hwaseong coffee bar for decaf and French berry toast: Baiden

There are quietly quite a lot of cafés in Byeongjeom, but Baiden felt more like a coffee bar that takes coffee seriously than a typical dessert café.

There were so many coffee options, and it was fun just looking over the menu because you can choose your beans. That day, I ordered decaf coffee and the French Berry Toast for two.

Rather than being a huge café, Baiden is a cozy space that is lovely for a quiet cup of coffee. Black-toned furniture and warm lighting make it comfortable for coffee during the day, and once the sun goes down, the lighting completely changes the mood. Personally, I thought it was a great Byeongjeom café to visit both day and night.

There are tables for two or three, so it would not feel awkward to come alone for coffee. It also looked like a nice stop for a Byeongjeom date with a friend or partner. Especially later in the evening, it has more of a coffee-bar feel than an ordinary café, which made it even more appealing.

Above all, there were so many kinds of coffee! There were filter coffee and hand-drip options that are not easy to find at typical cafés, plus a wide choice of beans, so I think coffee lovers would have fun here.

There is a separate bar menu, too! At night, it has a nice atmosphere for having a simple drink.

Decaf coffee and French Berry Toast

For dessert, there is French toast, and I ordered the French Berry Toast for two! Since it was getting a little late that day, I chose decaf coffee. These days, I cannot sleep if I have caffeine late in the day, so I was so happy to find a café with a decaf option haha.

And the French Berry Toast we ordered with it was more properly done than I expected. Thick French toast came topped with vanilla ice cream and berry compote, and it looked so pretty from the start.

The outside of the toast was sweetly browned while the inside was moist, so the contrast in texture was great. Add the cold ice cream on top, and it is, of course, an impossible-to-go-wrong combination!

I also liked that the tartness of the berries kept it from tasting overly sweet to the very last bite.

It was especially a good dessert for two people to share over coffee. A bite of toast followed by a sip of coffee went perfectly together, and as we chatted and ate slowly, it disappeared in no time haha. With so many coffee choices, I would like to try different beans or signature items one by one next time.

An even calmer mood in the evening

This is what it feels like when you visit in the evening! Once night fell, Baiden Coffee Bar's distinctive mood came through even more. The soft lighting made the whole space calm, and a movie was playing on one side, so it felt lovely to simply sit still with a coffee.

It suited a day when you want to spend time slowly sipping coffee, rather than going to a loud, crowded café.

Baiden Coffee Bar had satisfying coffee, dessert, and atmosphere! It is somewhere I would like to return to when I want to read quietly or have an unhurried conversation.
