A hugely popular place people line up for! A can't-miss spot, Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch! When we came in around noon on the weekend,

there was no wait, but plenty of people were enjoying the menu at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch.

Made only with fresh ingredients every day, the dishes work for lunch or dinner, family meals, office lunch groups, and takeout too.

Side dishes and the self-serve bar
After being shown to a seat on the left side of the restaurant,

we were given the basic side dishes. The raw onion was crisp, fresh, and not very spicy, so

I went back for more at the neatly prepared self-serve bar.

How to choose your cockle jjamppong spice level
The menu at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch includes cockle jjamppong, cockle jjamppong rice, jajangmyeon (black bean noodles), children's jajang, tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork), and fried dumplings.
For its signature jjamppong, you can choose the spice level: deliciously spicy level 1, warming-spicy level 2, fiery level 3, or insanely spicy level 4. Pick what suits your taste.

The rich broth of level 1 cockle jjamppong
Our order at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch arrived quickly, as you would expect from Chinese food.

I am usually not good with spicy food, so I ordered the deliciously spicy level 1, yet the thick, rich broth still immediately caught my eye.

When I moved things aside a little, there were heaps of fresh cockles. The deep, rich smoky aroma tickled my nose, and one bite with those bouncy cockles made my mouth so happy.
So this is what deliciously spicy means! I was able to finish even the broth. The portion was generous, and I thought that anyone who needed more should add a bowl of rice and mix it in—it would be incredible.

Extra-large uni jajang and dessert
It is known for jjamppong, but I was curious about the jajang too, so we ordered it extra-large. It was uni jajang-style, and the smooth sauce with chewy noodles simply could not be anything but delicious.
It is a flavor children would enjoy too, so it would be perfect to order when visiting with kids who are not good with spicy food.

My husband had mixed coffee and I had cocoa. Dessert was perfect too, so we are definitely coming back.
