Bucheon café for pull-apart olive cheese bread: Easy White Bread

Today, I visited Easy White Bread Bucheon Sinjung-dong in Sinjung-dong.

There had not been a fresh milk bread shop around Sinjung-dong Station, so when this one opened between Jjangine Spicy Pork Cutlet and Ten Percent Coffee, I kept an eye on it and had only looked at the standing sign outside.

There were more kinds of fresh milk bread than I had expected. Along with the basic Golden Beurre fresh milk bread, there were olive cheese, soboro chestnut glutinous rice cake, and walnut cranberry rye versions. I had been waiting for an excuse to try one, and I finally brought home the olive cheese bread. Haha.

Easy White Bread Sinjung-dong shop atmosphere

The shop was not especially large. From outside it looked compact enough that I assumed it was takeout-only, but inside there was both a bread-selling area and seating where you could eat. The wood tones and light colors gave it an overall clean feel.

They also sell coffee and other drinks, so you can simply take bread away, or, if you have time, try the fresh milk bread with coffee in the shop. When I visited, several packaged loaves were sitting on the rack inside. Even looking back at the photos, the loaves are so perfectly square. Haha.

Fresh milk bread varieties and prices

At the time of my visit, there were four kinds of fresh milk bread in total.

The signature Golden Beurre fresh milk bread was ₩6,000 for a half loaf and ₩11,000 for a whole loaf. The special menu listed olive cheese fresh milk bread, half ₩8,500; soboro chestnut glutinous rice cake fresh milk bread, half ₩8,500; and walnut cranberry rye fresh milk bread, half ₩7,500.

I chose the olive cheese fresh milk bread. I debated getting the basic loaf, but I love olives and cheese so much, and that day I was craving something like ciabatta with little pockets of olives throughout, so olive cheese won in the end.

Ah... but while waiting for the bread, I saw that they sell sando too?! I seriously love sando, so now I am incredibly curious what one made with fresh milk bread tastes like....

And this seems to change all the time, but the walnut cranberry rye fresh milk bread was the tasting sample that day, so I tried it. Perhaps because it was fresh milk bread, the combination of walnuts, cranberries, and moist bread was really lovely. It was mild and tasty, and completely my kind of thing too.

Choosing a Golden Beurre fresh milk bread size

The basic Golden Beurre fresh milk bread came in half and whole sizes. Seeing them displayed in person, the whole loaf was quite long sideways. If you do not eat much at once, the half size may feel more manageable; if you are sharing with family or planning to freeze it, the whole size also looked like a good choice.

There were separate boxes sized for the half and whole loaves, too. They were clean boxes with handles, so they looked suitable as gifts. The shop was also selling gift sets pairing fresh milk bread with house-made jam.

Golden Beurre fresh milk bread sliced to your preferred thickness

One fun detail was that the shop had a separate Golden Beurre Cutting Guide. It let you compare actual slices of bread to decide how thick you would like yours cut.

• 1.5 cm: a light thickness for enjoying with butter or jam
• 2 cm: a balanced thickness for enjoying the bread's flavor and texture itself
• 2.5 cm: a recommended thickness for toast or French toast

I did not even know they would slice fresh milk bread for you, and it was nice that they showed the actual thicknesses so you had something to go by. The special fresh milk breads seem not to be available for slicing, though, because they contain so many ingredients. Keep that in mind if you visit!

How should you store fresh milk bread?

And I really love things like this. I am the type who carefully reads any guide that tells you how to enjoy food properly and at its best. Haha.

The storage instructions were explained in detail at the shop. They recommend keeping leftover bread at room temperature for 1 day after purchase, or frozen for up to 2 weeks. Please refer to the guide below for storage, and note that fresh milk bread is supposedly best when you pull it apart along its layers and eat it on the day you buy it.

Out of all the varieties that day, I brought home the olive cheese fresh milk bread.

Following the guide, I pulled it apart along the layers. It was almost like pastry—the individual layers were truly all there.

I had never seen sliced bread pull apart in layers like this, so I was really surprised. Perhaps because they use good butter, it was nutty and rich, and it felt generously filled with olives and cheese.

With olives and cheese in it, it was naturally saltier than plain fresh milk bread. I enjoyed it so much.

What was Easy White Bread's coffee like?

I had work to do that day and thought I would be so tired, so I picked up a coffee too,

And... it was drip coffee!? They also have a machine that brews the drip coffee, and it was so fascinating that I filmed a little video. Lol.

There was a nutty coffee and an acidic coffee, and I went for the acidic one. I do not know how it would taste to people who really know coffee, but to someone like me who does not drink coffee very well, it was not bitter at all—just clean and delicious! I personally really enjoyed it.

I do not usually love sliced bread, but this was a fresh milk bread review that I enjoyed quite a lot! If you are looking for a great fresh milk bread spot near Sinjung-dong Station, Easy White Bread could be worth considering. Oh, and the female owner was truly kind. Even though quite a few customers came through while I waited for my coffee, she was consistently kind, so it was a visit that genuinely lifted my mood after work.
