Couple's grilled fish set with tteokbokki bar in Suwon: Hwadeogeuro

We're the Dudung couple, always on the hunt for good food. Today's spot is a Korean restaurant in Suwon — we found it while looking for places in Jowon-dong, and it turned out to be a grilled fish spot that's perfect for a family meal: Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch!

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo is famous as a Suwon Korean restaurant, so we came to check it out haha. They have a really wide range of wood-fired grilled fish — hairtail, dried yellow corvina, mackerel, Spanish mackerel, Atka mackerel, and more!

Plus there's a big parking lot so parking was really convenient, which was great!

This place near KT Wiz Park in Suwon is great for a family meal — the restaurant is really spacious and comfortable. You could tell right away why it's known as a Korean restaurant families come to, since so many people were there with their families haha.

What's on the unlimited self-serve bar: side dishes, tteokbokki, japchae and bibimbap fixings

This Jowon-dong, Suwon grilled fish restaurant doesn't just serve unlimited fish — all the Korean side dishes are also unlimited haha.

There's so much at the self-serve bar, I couldn't wait!~ There are soups too, like seaweed soup and scorched rice tea, so this Jowon-dong, Suwon spot seems like it'd be a hit with older folks too haha.

The scorched rice tea was really nutty and delicious~ And seaweed soup — can't have Korean food without it, right?!

True to a Suwon Korean restaurant, all these side dishes are unlimited refill! They give you a base serving, but you can go scoop as much more as you want, which is so nice~

From kimchi to salted squid, lotus root, cucumber peppers — side dishes that make the Korean meal even richer haha.

You can pile your plate as high as you like, and the self-serve bar itself was kept so clean and tidy that it looked great and made everything more appetizing haha. Since it's known as a Suwon family dining spot, I bet older diners would really love the look of it~

They even have unlimited bibimbap ingredients so you can make your own bibimbap (mixed rice bowl)! And rice is free too, so you can grab as much rice, bibimbap toppings, vegetables and gochujang sauce as you want to make it yourself!!

Also, you can grab as much tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) as you want from the self-serve bar haha. Little kids would love these too, so I'd recommend this place again as a great Suwon family meal spot~

The grilled mackerel and Spanish mackerel table for two

We ordered grilled mackerel and grilled Spanish mackerel! Since the fish is grilled fresh in the wood-fired oven, it took a bit of time, so we set up the side dishes while we waited haha.

A generous serving of my favorite salted squid, plus fried pink sausage~~ The side dishes were so plentiful I knew I'd be stuffed!

The bibimbap ingredients were laid out neatly~ and after a short wait, the grilled fish arrived! The visuals are amazing, right? haha. And the spread was so good I really felt like this was a proper Suwon Korean meal..!!

The Spanish mackerel is the fish on the left, and the size was seriously massive haha.

I usually like fish that's firm but meaty, so I ordered the Spanish mackerel, while my boyfriend went with his usual grilled mackerel for the omega-3s~!

So generous and delicious looking, right? haha. You can also choose your rice — we swapped the white rice for the tasty brown rice.

The side dishes were so varied too, making it an even more filling meal at this restaurant near KT Wiz Park in Suwon!!

The kimchi was of course delicious, and those cucumber peppers? The crisp cucumber peppers were so good haha. Not spicy at all, just crunchy and fragrant — a perfect palate cleanser side dish~~

Why you should mix your own bibimbap at Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo

And if you come to this Suwon Korean restaurant, Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo, you absolutely must try this bibimbap haha.

There are tons of vegetables, so it's crunchy and healthy-tasting, and the gochujang sauce has such great savory depth~~ Mixed into the rice it was so delicious, it really confirmed this is a proper Suwon Korean restaurant..!!

How do the wood-fired Spanish mackerel and mackerel taste?

Both the grilled mackerel and grilled Spanish mackerel were really moist and meaty, probably from the wood-fired grilling, and so delicious haha. The Spanish mackerel especially had little fat and tons of meat!! — I got full eating just a little bit~

But the Spanish mackerel was so big that I saw other diners packing it up to take home haha.

The mackerel had just the right amount of fat and was so tender and delicious ㅠㅠ — especially since there was zero fishy smell, which I really appreciated since I'm sensitive to that~~

The meat was especially plump, and it went perfectly with side dishes like salted squid and kimchi!?

We cut up the massive mackerel and Spanish mackerel using the tongs and scissors they gave us haha. Since it's grilled so well in the wood-fired oven, the bones came off easily, making it comfortable to eat!!

The mackerel and Spanish mackerel were also great dipped in wasabi or soy sauce haha. Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo, which we found while searching for Suwon restaurants, has quality side dishes, rice, and an unlimited self-serve bar — we came home stuffed to the brim!!
