Today I'm doing a review and menu/price rundown of Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo (화덕으로간고등어, "mackerel gone into the wood-fired oven") KT Wiz Park Branch, a grilled fish spot people rave about in Jowon-dong. Yesterday I had fieldwork for the company out in Jangan-gu. I had a morning appointment near the Jangan-gu office, wrapped up the meeting, and since it happened to be lunchtime, I went looking for somewhere good to eat nearby.

I've been trying to eat more fish than meat lately for health reasons! I'd heard that a new grilled fish restaurant called Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo had just opened here in Jowon-dong, so I went with a coworker to check it out myself. Let's get into the honest review right away!!

This is the Jowon-dong grilled fish spot Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo. It's located across from Suseong Elementary School and across from the Gwanggyosan Ilkwang Geudaega Forest Apartments — that's the KT Wiz Park branch of Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo. There's a large free parking lot right behind the building, so I parked easily and headed in to enjoy some mackerel!!

This Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo KT Wiz Park branch grills fish in a wood-fired oven over 500 degrees, giving you a crispy outside and moist, tender inside. They say they use salt that's been drained of bitterness for over 10 years, so it's a grilled fish specialty restaurant that everyone from grandparents to kids can enjoy without worry.

What is the inside of Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo like?

And they even had my personal favorite — old-style sausages!! I hadn't had those in ages, so it was a delicious surprise!

I ordered the wood-fired grilled mackerel set for two!! It's the signature dish, grilled in a 500-degree wood-fired oven so the outside is crispy and the inside stays moist!! The side dishes were plentiful, but above all, the mackerel itself was the best part — a really satisfying meal!!

That's my honest review of Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo, the grilled fish specialty restaurant in Jowon-dong. If you're looking for a healthy, delicious grilled fish spot, definitely give this place a try! The self-serve corner is excellent and the mackerel is REALLY good!!
