After a day out at Busan Citizens Park, I stopped by Gang Galbitang (강갈비탕), a great gukbap (Korean rice soup) spot in Seomyeon near Bujeon Market. My honest review of the galbitang, galbi gukbap and spicy galbi gukbap starts now!!
Where is Gang Galbitang Seomyeon, and what are the hours?
Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is at 33 Saessak-ro, Busanjin-gu, Busan, 1st floor, 318 m from Seomyeon Station Exit 11. It is open 09:20-21:00 (last order 20:20), with a break from 15:00 to 16:00. Parking is available, and they cover 30 minutes of parking if you spend ₩20,000 or more.

Getting to Gang Galbitang from Seomyeon Station, and parking

From Seomyeon Station Exit 11, walk about 300 m toward Busan Citizens Park and you will spot the restaurant by the roadside next to TT Hotel (티티호텔). It is easy to reach, close to both the station and Bujeon Market, and with lots of offices nearby it is always busy at lunchtime.

Many restaurants around Seomyeon don't offer parking support, but Gang Galbitang covers 30 minutes of parking for meals of ₩20,000 or more, which makes it convenient if you come by car.
Inside Gang Galbitang: good for solo diners and groups?

The inside is spacious and comfortable. There are counter seats (dacchi-seok) that are great for eating alone, and group seating for several people, so it works for a solo meal or a get-together.
Self-serve side dish bar

If you need more side dishes like kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), mumallaengi (dried radish strip pickles) or choseokjam (Chinese artichoke pickles), help yourself at the self-serve bar.

Spicy galbi gukbap (10,500 won): a good hangover soup?

I'd recommend the spicy galbi gukbap if you drank too much the night before and want a refreshing fix. The tangy broth comes with slow-boiled tender meat, rice and glass noodles. Fight heat with heat!! The hot, spicy broth loosens up your stomach all by itself. Clean, filling hangover gukbap, thumbs up!
Galbi gukbap (9,500 won): the mild, clean-tasting bowl

If you want a clean, mild broth, the galbi gukbap here is just right. Top it with some dried radish pickles and kkakdugi and, ahh! One bowl packed with meat leaves you really full.
Gang Galbitang (14,000 won) with extra Jeju noodles

The signature Gang Galbitang is said to have a deep, rich broth made by simmering Korean beef bone for a long time, with tender beef short ribs boiled fresh every morning. Gang Galbitang!!

I also added medium noodles (₩2,500). They use Jeju medium noodles, which feel clearly different from ordinary thin somyeon noodles.

The galbitang has several big rib bones with generous meat on them, so the portion is quite ample. The meat is boiled so tender that it comes apart as soon as the tongs touch it.

Dip it in the soy sauce and the meat melts away in your mouth. The broth is deep and rich, and the savory flavor builds the more you eat. The food comes neatly on a single-person tray, which gave a clean impression too.
Who is Gang Galbitang Seomyeon best for?
It's great for eating alone, and I think it would also be super for a daytime drink with your galbitang. If you're looking for a filling meal near Bujeon Market in Seomyeon, I recommend the galbitang, galbi gukbap and spicy galbi gukbap at Gang Galbitang, a Seomyeon gukbap spot in Busan that satisfies in both flavor and portion!!
