Bucheon soup restaurant where rice cake soup meets mandu: Hanchon
In short
Hanchon Seolleongtang Bucheon Kkachiul Station Branch is a standalone seolleongtang (ox bone soup) restaurant on Kkachiro 74beon-gil in Jakdong, Ojeong-gu, Bucheon. The order was tteokguk seolleongtang (rice cake ox bone soup), a regular seolleongtang with extra somyeon noodles, and 3 mandu dropped into the rice cake soup to turn it into tteokmanduguk (rice cake and dumpling soup). The broth at Hanchon Seolleongtang is rich without tasting heavy, so noodles and a bowl of rice both go in easily — a warm, filling meal near Kkachiul Station.

I visited Hanchon Seolleongtang Bucheon Kkachiul Station Branch, a great spot for a hot bowl of soup near Kkachiul Station. I'd been eyeing this place since it opened, passing by on my commute. Let me introduce this Jakdong local favorite, Hanchon Seolleongtang Kkachiul Station Branch.

The restaurant is huge! It's a brick standalone building, so it stands out from far away. There's also parking space right in front, making it convenient to visit by car.

I'd love to come here for breakfast too. Hot seolleongtang in the morning is the best haha.

Inside the restaurant: full-height windows with a green view and roomy seating
Once inside, Hanchon Seolleongtang Kkachiul Station Branch felt even more spacious. There were plenty of tables with comfortable spacing between seats, making it a good spot for family meals too. Near the entrance, there was a sign explaining the restaurant's three principles on broth, ingredients, and pricing, plus a display of packaged soups and stews for sale.

One wall in particular is a floor-to-ceiling window, and the view outside is full of trees — surprisingly nice haha! I never expected such a green view at a seolleongtang place!

Really spacious. Couldn't fit it all in the photo, but there's more seating to the left too.

What two people ordered: rice cake seolleongtang, seolleongtang with extra somyeon, and 3 mandu
We settled in here. That day we ordered tteokguk seolleongtang + seolleongtang (with extra somyeon noodles) + 3 mandu (dumplings). One of us went with the basic seolleongtang, and I picked tteokguk seolleongtang because I wanted the rice cakes in mine haha. And I added extra somyeon to the seolleongtang! I love dunking noodles in hot broth, so I couldn't pass that up🤣 Since it was just the two of us, ordering two bowls of seolleongtang alone felt a bit lacking, so we added 3 mandu on the side.

The napa cabbage kimchi and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) that came with the order! I liked the kkakdugi so much I refilled it twice. It was just slightly fermented with the perfect crunch for me.

Three plump, big mandu, served with a dipping sauce.
The self bar with unlimited rice refills

The self bar has rice, salt, and green onion. You can grab as much rice as you want for free!

How the rice cake seolleongtang tastes with mandu added
This is my tteokguk seolleongtang. The milky-white broth was loaded with rice cakes and topped with egg and gim (seaweed) flakes, so it looked much more filling than a regular seolleongtang. I took a sip of the broth first — it was rich but not too heavy or greasy, savory and clean, the kind of taste that keeps you spooning it up!

The rice cakes were soft and chewy, pairing really well with the hot seolleongtang broth. Since I love tteokguk (rice cake soup), this was more my style than plain seolleongtang haha. Then I dropped the mandu we'd ordered into the tteokguk seolleongtang! Once the dumpling skin softened and soaked up the broth, it was delicious eaten this way too. The filling was packed, so even one dumpling was pretty filling. Rice cake + mandu + seolleongtang broth all together suddenly made a complete tteokmanduguk haha. I basically turned my tteokguk seolleongtang into a tteokmanduguk seolleongtang!

Is extra somyeon in the seolleongtang worth it?
My boyfriend added extra somyeon to his basic seolleongtang. It already comes with somyeon, but ordering extra got him a genuinely huge separate portion haha. If you love noodles, adding somyeon is a must! Dunking the noodles into the broth let the milky broth soak in between the strands, making it great for slurping.
The seolleongtang broth is rich and savory without being heavy, so the broth flavor doesn't get lost even with that much noodle added. Eat the noodles first, then mix in rice — that's the full, satisfying course haha.

Feeding the rabbits after the meal
After eating, if you head out to the parking lot, you can feed the rabbits there. It's a rabbit feeding experience that kids would probably love.
I had a satisfying, hot meal of seolleongtang! I preferred the tteokguk seolleongtang over the basic version, and adding mandu made it even heartier and tastier haha. If you're looking for a filling meal near Kkachiul Station, I recommend Hanchon Seolleongtang :)
