Bucheon restaurant open at 8am for samgyetang after a swim: Hanchon
In short
Hanchon Seolleongtang Bucheon Kkachiul Station Branch is a Korean restaurant in Bucheon, Gyeonggi, about 10 minutes by car from Ojeong Sports Center and right in front of the Seonggok Elementary School intersection. After a weekend morning swim, the writer ordered nurungji half-chicken samgyetang (chicken soup with scorched rice), which had a thick broth, and royal galbitang with short ribs free of any gamey smell, with unlimited rice from the self-serve corner. Hanchon Seolleongtang opens at 8am, so it works well when you want a hot bowl of soup straight after a workout.

A weekend morning after swimming at Hanchon Seolleongtang, Kkachiul Station

Hot and sweaty from swimming on a sunny weekend morning ☀️ No matter the season, after swimming I always crave something warm and soupy. I was looking for a good restaurant near the pool for my husband to cure his hangover, and we ended up at Hanchon Seolleongtang Bucheon Kkachiul branch.

10 minutes by car from Ojeong Sports Center: parking and access
Hanchon Seolleongtang Bucheon Kkachiul Station Branch is about 10 minutes by car from Ojeong Sports Center, right in front of the Seonggok Elementary School intersection. It's a bit far from the station, so most people drive there — the parking lot is spacious and there's staff on hand to guide you in, so parking was easy 🚗🅿️

It's on the 2nd floor, but there's no elevator. Something to keep in mind if you have trouble with stairs or use a wheelchair.

Sofa seats and group tables: is Hanchon good for a family meal?
The interior has windows on both sides so it didn't feel cramped, just bright and airy. And instead of hard chairs, there were cushioned sofa seats to eat comfortably.

There are enough tables to push together for group seating, plus baby chairs, so it seems like a good spot for a family gathering too. (Reservations available by phone or Naver Reservation)

A lot of places these days have tablet ordering with tiny text you have to squint at. Here the text was big and the menu photos were clear, which made ordering easy.

Unlimited rice at the self-serve corner, and why to add salt last
There's a self-serve corner with salt, scallions, and rice ready to go (rice refills are unlimited). Since I ordered samgyetang I thought I'd need the salt, but the chicken and broth were already seasoned just right, so I didn't need it at all. My tip: try the soup first before you go grabbing the salt!

You know a warm soup restaurant has to have good kimchi (fermented vegetables) if you're going to come back, right? Haha. I never touch bad kimchi, but this one was fermented just right and delicious 🩷

How the nurungji half-chicken samgyetang and royal galbitang taste
What we ordered: nurungji half-chicken samgyetang and royal galbitang.

My nurungji half-chicken soup, haha... it wasn't a clear broth but had some thickness to it, which I liked even more. It looked healthy just to see it!

I've always had the whole chicken samgyetang, so this was my first time with the half-chicken version — it had herbal medicine ingredients in it and the chicken was tender. Warming my body back up after the cold pool with this soup felt amazing 🥹✨

My husband wanted to buy packaged galbitang the other day, but I dragged him here to eat the real thing instead — the short ribs were genuinely huge, and he loved it 👍

I had a taste too, and the meat had no gamey smell at all and was really tender. Seolleongtang is the signature dish here, but Hanchon Seolleongtang does a great galbitang too!

What the little table fans are actually for
Each table had a small fan, and I thought, 'Did they set these out because it's so hot?' but it turned out to be perfect for cooling down the hot stone bowls, lol. Thanks to that, I could enjoy my meal without burning the roof of my mouth! I know people order this for office lunches sometimes, but this was my first time trying it myself. Now I get why people order it so often. Next time I'll have to try the signature seolleongtang.

Does Hanchon Seolleongtang deliver?
Hanchon Seolleongtang Kkachiul Station Branch is currently running a Baemin promotion — minimum order ₩12,000, free delivery with no delivery fee 🏍️ There's also a review event giving away 3 pieces of galbi mandu (short rib dumplings)! Delivery orders come with rice and kimchi included, so you can eat it just like you would in the restaurant, haha. It's close to Ojeong Sports Center too, so if you're looking for a good restaurant nearby, this is a great spot to hit after a workout!
