PT squat form correction and hip-up routine at Xbody Gym, Uiwang
In short
Xbody Gym is a fitness gym in Naesondong, Uiwang, Gyeonggi, run by a former national team athlete, on the 3rd floor of Poil Shopping Center. After over a year of Pilates alone without building much muscle, this writer tried a 1-on-1 consultation, squat form correction, two hip-up and lower body machines, and a cardio finish through a PT session. It finally answered the question of how to break through a plateau and actually gain strength that Pilates alone couldn't provide.

I've been going to Pilates three times a week for over a year now~ My posture and flexibility have improved a lot, but toned muscle just wasn't happening ㅠㅠ I figured that to really build muscle and get a firmer body, I definitely needed to add systematic weight training and strength work alongside it!

And it just so happened that on the 3rd floor of the building where my Pilates studio is, there's a PT gym in Naesondong called Xbody Gym~ I heard it's run by a former national team athlete who's great at personal training, so with the mindset of "let's actually build real strength," I signed up for the gym and tried a 1-on-1 PT session!
Xbody Gym's location and first impression
Xbody Gym is located on the 3rd floor of Poil Shopping Center, 9 Naeson-ro, Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do. Parking is easy, and the gym itself is really pleasant, so it was easy to visit~ Walking in, the whole atmosphere is genuinely clean and tidy!

Going up to the 3rd floor, you see a whole row of lockers lined up~

The entrance is packed with trophies and medals! I heard this place is run directly by a former national team athlete and his students, and just from that, I already felt a lot of trust before even starting!

1-on-1 consultation before working out
Before starting the workout, I had a 1-on-1 consultation in the space next to the front desk~ They carefully go over your body condition, concerns, and workout goals.

There were a lot of PT and gym discount promotions running in September~ Local currency and easy pay are both accepted too, so it seemed like a great time to take advantage of the discounts.

A trainer who proves it with her own body
My PT trainer was a female trainer, and honestly — doesn't she look like Wonyoung from IVE??? Wow, she was so pretty I was secretly startled! Her face is completely soft and pure-looking, but her body is fully toned with solid, defined muscle,,

It really gave off the feeling of "proving the results of training through her own body"!! Seeing her physique seriously motivated me — "I want a toned, pretty line like that too"!

Why doesn't muscle build up from Pilates alone?
When I confessed my worry about why muscle wasn't building even after over a year of Pilates, ㅜㅜ the trainer pointed out everything from diet to workout method so carefully and clearly, and I loved it! First, she said I actually needed to eat more than I currently do~ She especially emphasized that to build muscle, you need about 200g of quality protein at every single meal! I learned for sure this time that no matter how hard you work out, muscle won't grow well if you're lacking nutrients like protein~

A 60-pyeong facility and equipment lineup
In a spacious area of about 60 pyeong (~198㎡), the equipment is packed in solidly! The free weight zone is laid out perfectly for checking your form in the mirror, so it's ideal for squats and posture correction~

They have a well-rounded lineup from beginner-friendly machines to hip-up and lower body equipment that women will really love, plus upper body machines.

Xbody Gym also has the ultimate cardio machine — the stair climber (stepmill)! Finishing strength training with the stair climber lets you wrap up cardio perfectly too!
PT class starting with squat form correction
She also explained that when working out, you need to push a bit harder than before for the muscle to get real stimulation and growth. She taught me how important it is to accurately find the right stimulation point for my own body! In the class, we started with correcting proper form for the 'squat,' the basic of weight training and the best move for core strengthening~

Details I never would have known doing it alone or watching YouTube videos — the tiny pelvic angle, knee position, even how my feet gripped the floor — she corrected all of it so carefully, and it was honestly moving!

With proper form, I definitely felt a much deeper burn in my hips and legs compared to before~
Two hip-up lower body machines and a cardio finish
Next, I learned two leg machines that women are most curious about — the ones that shape your hips nicely! For each machine, she carefully taught me hand and arm position, where to look, breathing, and the direction to apply force. Following her hip-up tips, the burn was incredible — my hips were completely on fire even without adding much weight!
Also, since I tend to carry a bit more fat around my belly, she recommended finishing high-intensity strength training with a muscle pump and then always following up with cardio~ I always used to just stand around at the gym wondering what to do, but she set up a routine that fit me perfectly, and I loved it! 😆
Private individual showers
After working out, I used the showers too, and instead of being shared, they're clean private individual showers, which was genuinely comfortable and pleasant~ The hygiene management of the facility was really spotless too!

To sum up
I feel like I finally found the answer to gaining muscle and breaking through a plateau at Xbody Gym, something Pilates alone couldn't give me~ The gorgeous trainer proved it with her own body and taught me so kindly that I realized for the first time how fun working out can actually be! If you're near Uiwang or Naesondong and want systematic posture correction, real muscle stimulation, and a pretty toned body, you should definitely try a PT session at Xbody Gym!
