Now that fall is here, I've been craving warm soup, so I went looking for a shabu-shabu spot in Naju Innovation City!!! It also turned out to be a solid pick for a Naju lunch group meal!

A shabu-shabu place with unlimited vegetables and mushrooms? I was already surprised by the sign inside as soon as I walked in.
Inside Yuyu Shabu: booth seating and baby chairs

Yuyu Shabu, a good pick for a Naju shabu-shabu restaurant, had a calm interior, and the tables have backrest dividers that make each table feel separated from the others — a layout I really liked!

And there's a baby chair too, just so you know!
Yuyu Shabu menu and what the 5,000-won set adds

I don't think there was a set menu the last time I visited — looks like they made one recently!! If you order the Yuyu Shabu set, adding ₩5,000 gets you egg porridge plus a side dish. Even without the set, there was a good variety of menus for a healthy pick-me-up, from Yuyu Shabu to king scallop shabu to conger eel shabu.

I was too full to eat it today!! But honestly, porridge is a must with shabu-shabu haha. They even made a cute sign explaining how to enjoy the porridge best.

Table setting and the raw egg dipping sauce
First, the basic setting! Pickled pepper side dish, kimchi, and pickled radish all ready to go. And Yuyu Shabu comes with a sauce made with raw egg — this is genuinely a special treat!! It's so good, definitely dip your shabu-shabu right in!!
There's also a powder available to make the broth spicier, and you can choose between regular and spicy broth for the base — worth knowing! Vinegar-chili sauce, chili sauce, peanut sauce — all the sauces are ready, you just pick your favorite flavor.

What comes with the signature Yuyu Shabu: vegetables and mushrooms
I ordered Yuyu Shabu today! It's the signature dish that comes with several types of vegetables and mushrooms, plus noodles included!!

This is how it's served — even just by looking, you can tell there's a ton of ingredients, right? First, the mushrooms — wood ear, enoki, shiitake, oyster mushrooms, so many kinds. And sweet pumpkin, carrot, bean sprouts, napa cabbage, bok choy, fried tofu — vegetables piled high, all set to deepen the shabu-shabu's flavor.

They told us to dip in the order of fish cake, vegetables, then meat, so I tried it exactly that way!!!

Can you see how the pot is already full just from the vegetables..!!

The burner was strong too, so it came to a boil quickly! It was a weekend lunch, and Naju usually isn't that busy on weekends, but the place was nearly full. Popular spots really do survive anywhere!!!

How the all-you-can-eat vegetable and mushroom self-bar works
Here's the self-bar! They've set out fresh vegetables at the self-bar!!! Thanks to the unlimited refills of vegetables and mushrooms, I went back for more!!! Shabu-shabu vegetables are just so good no matter how much you eat — I kept going back for more haha.

Dipping the well-cooked vegetables into the sauce really felt like a proper pick-me-up!!!
The sweet pumpkin cooks relatively slowly, so I waited while eating other vegetables. Once it's cooked until it's about to fall apart, it's soft and sweet!!! I really love sweet pumpkin~~
There was quite a lot of shabu-shabu meat too — I added a batch like this more than five times!! Amazing!

Finishing the broth with noodles as kalguksu
Lastly, I made kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) using the noodles that come included with the Yuyu Shabu order. The noodles were chewy and really delicious!!!

Is Yuyu Shabu a good spot to take your parents?
I went with my mom, and inside the restaurant there were customers of all ages — some families had even brought grandmothers along!!! My mom was really satisfied too — a great place to bring your parents!! If you're deciding on a Naju Innovation City restaurant, I definitely recommend giving this one a try!!!!
