You put in all sorts of vegetables and mushrooms, simmer them into a broth, and once it starts bubbling, you add the dumplings.

You add the dumplings 4 at a time and only need to boil them for 1–2 minutes before they're ready to eat — even better! The broth is clean yet deep, and with so many dumplings in it, you just keep reaching for more.

The dumpling skin is chewy while the filling feels light but packed full of meat and vegetables, giving you that clean, distinctive taste of Pyeongyang-style mandu. They say the broth is made with rich 1++ grade Korean beef, and once you drink it along with the dumplings, you immediately feel comforted — the kind of meal that makes you think, 'this would be great for taking my parents out to eat in Paju' 🩷

This is the mung bean pancake. Crispy on the outside, moist and savory on the inside — it goes great alongside the dumplings. If you join Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu's event, you might get the mung bean pancake as a free service too, so keep that in mind.

Last, you add the knife-cut noodles and let them boil away for about 5 minutes before eating. The chewy noodles soak up the rich broth well, making the flavor even deeper and more savory.
