Paju Unjeong BBQ with self-serve kimchi bar: pork neck for two, Tannae

This time I visited Tannae Main Branch in Paju!! Just the name makes you feel like they're going to grill the meat properly, right?! Let's get into the review~!

Tannae Paju Main Branch is open Mon–Fri 17:00–23:00 and Sat–Sun 16:00–23:00, with last order at 22:00. You can park behind the building, and if there's no spot, park in the alley near the Samsung Plaza entrance.

We used that parking lot in Garam-maeul and didn't even know they gave out parking coupons!! Found out while researching for this blog review!! Make sure to grab yours!!!

What the dining room at Tannae is like — and does the smoke cling?

Maybe because the doors were open when we visited, the inside of Tannae Paju Main Branch didn't feel stuffy at all — it had a nice open feel! There are also quite a lot of tables, so it'd work for a company dinner or a family meal!!

You know how after eating meat the smell clings to you like crazy?! But because they pre-grill the meat and the doors were all open, it was way less than at other BBQ places!!! I personally don't care about that when it comes to eating meat, but Nemo avoids it,,,hahahaha

What two people ordered at Tannae Paju

We ordered pretty thoroughly — two servings of pork neck, one of pork jowl, one marinated pork king cut, one marinated pork skin, and even the naengmyeon (cold noodles) from the review event >.< I'll have to try the pork belly next time....!!!!!!

The charcoal fire looked great just from a glance. They put myeolchi-jeot (salted anchovy sauce) on it first!!

Side dishes, the self-serve kimchi bar and the free stew

The basic side dishes at Tannae Paju Main Branch were all solid, no complaints. That wasabi shiitake mushroom thing?? Nemo said it was so good she refilled it.

The stew was well-seasoned too, clean flavor! I like spicy food so I added cheongyang chili peppers >< They're on the self-serve bar!!

Even with green onion kimchi around, I always like napa cabbage kimchi best, so at first I thought they didn't have any — but it's on the self-serve bar!! And having a lid on the self-serve bar containers is so reassuring!! Felt more trustworthy, like it stays clean.

How the briquette pre-grilling service works

Tannae Paju Main Branch pre-grills the meat before bringing it out, which was way more comfortable than grilling it from scratch at the table. Meat pre-grilling in progress•••

It's convenient when someone grills right next to you, but sometimes you just don't feel like talking...? Is it just me?hahahaha Having it grilled for you is nice, but having someone standing there is a little awkward...? But here they just grill it and bring it over, so it was so comfortable!!

Two servings of pork neck: the dish worth coming back for

Can you see the chunk of pork neck... It comes out like that, which is why pork neck at Tannae Paju Main Branch starts at 2 servings! But you absolutely must order it. Absolutely. This is a real must-order pork neck spot.

They said you can trim the fat off and eat it right away like this, but I grilled mine a little more, hahahaha. I know it'd be more tender as is... but I let it cook just a bit longer!

The pork neck is seriously insane. I'm definitely coming back just for this!!!!! Nemo kept going wow, wow the whole time.

Pork jowl at Tannae

Pork jowl is chewy and has that nice crisp texture, obviously delicious. I love a lot of fat so pork jowl is right up my alley. I took a photo of it on the left first, but Nemo said it looked messy and re-arranged it to take another shot hahahahahaha

Marinated giant pork cut

Ah, this marinated pork king cut was also delicious. When it first came out I thought it might not be tender, but it really was. Softest thing I've had recently!!!

Marinated pork skin

The pork skin was seriously thick...?! As someone who loves fat, 💗💗💗

I cut it up nice and neat. They gave us sauce and bean flour on the side, which was great 👍🏻 I always feel a little let down if there's no bean flour.

Finishing with the review-event naengmyeon

Finished it off with naengmyeon (cold noodles). It was part of the review event, but it seemed to come out exactly the same as the regular menu item. And check out that slushy ice!!!!! It settled everything we ate, so round two was totally doable. If you're looking for a BBQ restaurant in Unjeong, I highly recommend this place! hahahahahaha
