Gwacheon hair salon layered perm for awkward grow-out hair: Juno Hair

Before my summer holiday I wanted a little mood boost, so I got a layered perm at Juno Hair Gwacheonchungsa Station (준오헤어 과천청사역점) near Gwacheon Government Complex Station. It poured on the day of my appointment and I worried the perm wouldn't turn out well, but it came out really pretty! (I was flying out the next day, so I couldn't push the booking back any longer,,,)

I booked ahead, so I got in without any waiting. They also brought me welcome tea, and after a cool drink we went straight into the consultation and treatment.

Interior and shampoo rooms at Juno Hair Gwacheonchungsa Station

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the elegant interior. Of all the Juno Hair branches I've visited, this one feels like it has the best interior, with a spacious, comfortable layout and a stylish mood that kept me happy through the whole treatment~~

The shampoo rooms come in 1-person and 2-person versions, so it felt nicely private.

Awkward in-between hair: hippie perm or layered perm?

The designer at Juno Hair Gwacheonchungsa Station recommended a mid-length layered perm for my hair, which was stuck in that awkward in-between length Koreans jokingly call the "beggar zone" (거지존). I told her how I usually style my hair and do my makeup, and she said a mid-length layered perm would suit the current length best.

I already had a layered perm, but the lower part of my hair was so damaged that I kept trimming it, and before I knew it I'd landed in the beggar zone... This time I was really torn between a strong-curl perm like a voluminous hippie style, or going back to a layered perm!

I got the price explained before starting! I had the layered perm with basic care, and because my hair was mid-length there was an extra charge. The original post doesn't give the exact amount.

How was the layered perm process?

After the cut, I moved to another seat for the perm. During the treatment they kept carefully checking whether it was too hot or anything felt uncomfortable, so I felt relaxed throughout.

They also set out iced tea and snacks, and I was so thirsty I had a refill!

Mid-length layered perm result and styling tips

Ta-da~ my beggar-zone hair is now a neat, natural mid-length layered perm. The curls aren't overdone and went in naturally, so the whole look came alive.

My designer said my hair takes perms really well and that a thicker-curl perm would look pretty next time. She also walked me through drying and styling in detail so I can follow along at home. I usually just half-dry my hair and go, but for a while I'm going to dry it thoroughly the way she showed me. The styling isn't difficult, so it should be easy to do every day.

I left for my summer holiday in Phu Quoc the day after the treatment, and I was really glad I'd done my hair before the trip. The curls looked natural and pretty in every photo I took!
