So today's post is an honest review of a pork bone soup spot in Suwon's Ingye-dong, 'Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch'! It's apparently a real local favorite from Cheonan that opened a branch here in Ingye-dong~~
Weekend morning at Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk: how busy, and the private rooms
We went for an early brunch! Even though it was a weekend morning, plenty of locals were already there eating!
The hall seating is spacious and generous, and there are also room seats like this! Great for a small hangout with friends or a date, but also good for group dinners, family gatherings, or evening get-togethers!! The AC was blasting too and it was suuuper cool inside.
Four spice levels: regular spice tastes like Shin Ramyun
True to the name 'Eolkeunhan' (spicy), you can choose from a whopping four spice levels: mild, regular, spicy, and extra spicy. I was debating which to pick, and the owner kindly told us that regular = Shin Ramyun spice level!!
Kiosk ordering: pork bone soup 10,000 won, ugeoji bone soup 11,000 won
Ordering is easy via kiosk!! Bone hot pot, pork bone soup, ugeoji pork bone soup, even blood sausage soup!! There were so many menu options. After going back and forth we ordered pork bone soup (regular spice) for 10,000 won and ugeoji pork bone soup (regular spice) for 11,000 won!!
Banchan, the self-serve bar and the aprons at Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk
For basic banchan (side dishes) you get wasabi soy sauce, kkakdugi, and pickled onions, and if you want more, you can freely refill from the self-serve bar! The pickled onions are homemade and the kkakdugi is made with domestic ingredients..!! You can really feel the care put into the side dishes from the start...
Next to the banchan self-serve bar, there's even an apron ready to go >< should make drinking down that broth pretty easy, haha.
How does the regular-spice pork bone soup taste?
And here it is! A hot stone bowl brimming with bubbling pork bone soup ㅠㅠㅠ looking at the photo makes me want to eat it again...
This is the regular-spice pork bone soup I ordered!! They piled a ton of green onions on top. Guys, the broth is really... so, so delicious.....!!! Truly the kind of flavor that clears out last night's drinking...
Unless you're really into extra-hot food, I think even the regular spice will feel quite fiery! My friend Seorang and I sipped the regular-spice broth and both went 'ahh, good thing we didn't order the spicy one!!' haha. It's exactly Shin Ramyun-level heat, and if you want more fire than that, go for the spicy or extra spicy option...!!
Why the ugeoji pork bone soup is the one to order
And then there's the ugeoji pork bone soup Seorang ordered, regular spice! Guys, the regular pork bone soup is already amazing, but the ugeoji version.. I strongly recommend it!!!! It's loaded with ugeoji (dried radish greens) and it was so, so, so good.
Oh, and of course, whichever one you order, the bone size is seriously huge... ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I was holding my camera in one hand and lifting the meat off the bone with the other, and it was so heavy my hand was shaking.... I couldn't finish mine because there was so much, and Seorang gave me one and a half bones from theirs — that made the portion perfect for the two of us!!!
Free ice cream for diners at Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk
And this next thing really made me do a double take...! They give out free ice cream, exclusively for dining customers!!!! (one per person)
They really stocked up on all the classic must-have ice creams, hahaha. Bibibig, Nuga bar, Screw bar, Melona!!!! Spicy pork bone soup followed by a sweet ice cream for dessert, honestly the best...
We agonized over what to pick
Seorang went with Nuga bar, I decided on Screw bar!!! Finishing off a mouth that had gone numb from the spicy soup with ice cream made for such a happy meal... Anyone living around Ingye-dong, definitely visit!!!!!!
