Gimhae Korean restaurant for family clam noodles: Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu

In short

Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu is a Korean restaurant in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, serving dongjuk clam kalguksu and seafood pajeon. My family enjoyed two servings of noodles, thoughtful kid-friendly tableware, and a generous seafood pancake while traveling. A happy choice for a family noodle meal with kids.

I really love noodle dishes even normally, so when I heard there was a great kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) place in Gimhae that uses dongjuk clams, I had to visit while traveling with my family. The kalguksu was loaded with dongjuk clams, and the seafood pajeon (Korean scallion pancake) was full of seafood, so we had a wonderfully generous family meal.

The restaurant atmosphere and conveniences for children

Spacious, neat interior of Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu

The restaurant was very spacious and neat. We visited on a weekday at lunchtime, and there were so many customers. There was also a solo-dining area in one corner, so it looked like people visiting alone could eat comfortably too.

They had high chairs and also brought us a children's spoon. I was grateful that they gave us seaweed for my child to eat too 😄

They say the dongjuk clams arrive from Seosan every day at dawn, so I was even more excited to taste them, expecting exceptional freshness.

We were hungry, so we ordered right away. We chose two servings of dongjuk kalguksu and the Onaksae seafood pajeon.

Delicious spicy kimchi and the self-service bar

Side dishes set out after ordering

Once we had ordered, they set out the side dishes, and even at a glance the kimchi looked delicious.

Spicy kimchi sampled before the food arrived

I tried the kimchi before the food arrived, and it was spicy but delicious. My husband tried it too and agreed that it was good 👍

Dongjuk kalguksu broth that was deep and clean

As soon as the food came out, wow~~ the kalguksu arrived generously piled into a huge bowl. I tasted the broth first, and it was clean and deeply flavored, with a lovely savory depth from the clams~

Slurping the noodles with a dongjuk clam on top was really delicious. My husband does not usually love noodle dishes that much, but he ate this well, saying it was tasty.

It was an absolutely perfect match with the kimchi served as a side dish. The kimchi disappeared so quickly that I refilled it at the self-service bar 😊

Since we were eating with our child, we ordered without Cheongyang chili peppers, but they thoughtfully brought them separately. Adding the peppers to the broth gave it that refreshing, hangover-clearing feeling.

We ordered two servings, and there were quite a lot of clams in them,

so I got to enjoy a generous amount of clams for the first time in a while.

We polished off the kalguksu in no time 😊

Onaksae seafood pajeon with squid, octopus, and shrimp

Seafood pajeon with Onaksae seafood

There was truly so much seafood in the pajeon. It had three kinds: squid, octopus, and shrimp.

I normally love seafood, so it had my mouth watering.

Crispy seafood pajeon eaten with chojang

It was such a good combination with the chojang (sweet-and-tangy red chili dipping sauce) served alongside it. I think it was my first time dipping pajeon in chojang, but it suited it so well. The outside was nicely crisp, while the inside was packed with seafood—it felt like a seafood party in my mouth 😊

Final thoughts on our family meal with a child

If you enjoy kalguksu with clean, deeply flavored clam broth, do visit~ It is generously filled with dongjuk clams, while the seafood pajeon is generously loaded with squid, octopus, and shrimp. We had a family meal with our child, and my child ate well too, so we left after a very happy meal.
