Seongsu dessert café with matcha crunch and decaf americano: Mellows

A day near the end of Malbok in August when the heat made me crave ice cream so badly! Sangha Farm ice cream is just so good, haha. There's a Seongsu dessert café famous for using Sangha Farm ice cream, so I went to check it out. I'd totally recommend this as a stop after a walk in Seoul Forest or some Seongsu shopping!

Real premium ice cream in Seongsu — Mellows is an ice cream specialty shop using fresh Sangha Farm milk.

A red-brick entrance with a European feel

Mellows in Seongsu has atmosphere from the entrance onward. The red brick building looked like straight-up European vibes. In cooler spring or fall weather, sitting at the outdoor tables with ice cream or coffee would be lovely, haha.

What is the seating inside Mellows like?

The interior isn't huge, but it's simple and clean. It's mostly 2- and 3-seat tables, with some window seating too. Since the space is on the smaller side, I'd recommend a short stay or takeout rather than lingering for a long time.

Ordering matcha and mango ice cream with a decaf iced americano

After some deliberation, I went with matcha and mango ice creams, plus a decaf iced americano for coffee. Here's the ice cream once it arrived — the visuals are amazing, right?

Matcha ice cream, 4,000 won

The matcha ice cream at Mellows is a dream for matcha lovers — a meeting of rich Jeju matcha flavor and soft milk ice cream! The bitterness and sweetness combine perfectly, and one bite is pure healing, haha. The crunchy matcha crunch on top gave it great texture too.

A rollypolly cracker was served alongside it too, and adding that in created even more synergy — loved it.

Mango ice cream, 4,500 won

Soft milk ice cream with sweet Vietnamese mango and rich mango jam — one bite and your mood instantly lifts! It's packed with sweet mango, and the yellow color alone makes you happy just looking at it.

The more I ate, the more mango flesh I found packed all the way down to the bottom — genuinely surprised me.

Why a decaf iced americano works in the late afternoon

Since it was late afternoon, I ordered the coffee decaf. It had plenty of acidity, and the pairing with sweet ice cream was a great choice for soothing the afternoon slump.

Is Mellows worth a stop? Final verdict

Mellows in Seongsu is a great-value dessert spot built around Sangha Farm ice cream at around ₩4,000, with plenty of toppings like fruit and granola depending on your taste, filling you with a pleasant sweetness. If you're around Seongsu, Ttukseom, or Seoul Forest, I'd recommend giving Mellows a visit!
