Gimhae café with Momos filter coffee and tomato juice: Peer a Peer

I visited Peer a Peer, a bakery café in Jillye, over the weekend. It's a large space where you can enjoy books and exhibits alongside your coffee, and with the autumn mood added in, it was a great place to wander around slowly.

There's a dedicated parking lot right in front of the café, and it's quite spacious, so I could visit without worrying about parking.

A 2,000-pyeong cultural complex inside a 40-year-old factory

Peer a Peer is said to be a complex cultural space of roughly 2,000 pyeong in total, where you can enjoy coffee and baked goods along with books, exhibits, and even performances.

They say it was made by reviving a 40-year-old factory, and maybe that's why the atmosphere felt a bit different from a typical café right from the entrance.

There are artworks displayed throughout the café, so I got to enjoy the art while walking around the space, which was nice.

The small library and the bakery counter at Peer a Peer

The small library in another part of the space had not just books for kids but a good variety for adults too, so it seemed like a nice place to order a coffee and spend time reading.

True to a bakery café, there were many kinds of bread. Beyond tiramisu and cakes, they had their signature ciabatta too — so many tempting breads that I stood there deciding for a while.

With such a wide range of drinks beyond just coffee, it seems like a good place to bring kids along too.

The tomato juice my kid ordered had a slight sweetness but still carried a lot of that distinct fresh-tomato flavor. It wasn't artificially sweetened — you could really taste the tomato itself, which I liked.

Today's coffee had a nice aroma and was smooth, and the café latte had a fairly strong coffee flavor, which I liked. At big cafés the space is often great but the coffee just okay — here, even the coffee was good, which made me happy.

How were the lemon tiramisu and egg pie?

The lemon tiramisu we ordered for dessert really went well with the coffee. The cream and cake part were soft and sweet, with the bright tang of lemon added in, making it great to eat alongside coffee.

The egg pie was even better thanks to its crispy outer layer.

The outdoor garden and pampas grass in autumn

The weather was great that day and the outdoor atmosphere was really nice too. In particular, the pampas grass outside was in full bloom, giving it a real autumn feel.

There are outdoor tables set up too, so once the weather gets a bit cooler, it seems like it'd be nice to spend time out there with a cup of coffee.

Is Peer a Peer worth the trip to Gimhae?

Having been there in person, Peer a Peer felt like a place where you could linger comfortably — sipping coffee, having some bakery items, checking out the exhibits, reading a book, and enjoying the outdoors if the weather's good. The fact that it used to be a 40-year-old factory site gave it a different vibe from a typical café, and the coffee and bakery were genuinely good too.
