Jagalchi tripe restaurant, spicy hotpot on an autumn patio: Bupyeong
In short
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang (부평양곱창) is a 30-year-old beef tripe restaurant in the Gukje Market gopchang alley in Bupyeong-dong, Jung-gu, Busan. On a cool Friday evening around 8pm, the writer and a friend waited about 20 minutes, then ordered the small spicy yang daechang jeongol (beef tripe and large intestine hotpot); the first-time bunmoja sari (chewy glass noodle add-on) and the sharp, spicy sauce stood out. Bupyeong Yang Gopchang is a great Nampo-dong pick for hotpot and drinks at outdoor tables on an autumn night.

Once the weather starts cooling down, don't you just crave a bowl of hot, chili-spiked hotpot broth with a cold breeze and a drink in hand at night? 🥺 Every time the outdoor-seating season rolls around, I have a go-to spot I visit with friends without fail. Known as a beef tripe specialist in Nampo-dong, Bupyeong Yang Gopchang (부평양곱창) has kept its 30-year old-school charm and clean flavors intact, while offering a deeply savory, chili-spiked yang daechang jeongol (beef tripe and large intestine hotpot) and a proper outdoor pojangmacha (street tent bar) vibe — highly recommend 😋✨
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang hours, location and parking
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang is open daily from 11:00 to 1:00am, with last order at midnight. The address is 17 Bupyeong 2-gil, Jung-gu, Busan, South Korea, and since there's no dedicated parking lot, you'll need to use a nearby paid lot. Pets are welcome too!
How to get to Bupyeong Yang Gopchang from Jagalchi Station
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang is easy to find — just take Exit 3 of Jagalchi Station on Busan Subway Line 1 and walk a short distance into the tripe alley inside Bupyeong-dong's Gukje Market 🚇

The walk from Jagalchi Station is really convenient, so it's an easy stop to add if you're already exploring Nampo-dong or Jagalchi Market!

It's become so popular that the restaurant now runs three separate storefronts in the same alley — that's how big the operation is. Outdoor seating stretches all along the alley in front of the shop, so you really get that classic Busan street-side pojangmacha feel 🍻

As for parking, there's no dedicated lot for the restaurant, so I'd recommend using the nearby Bupyeong Public Parking Lot or another paid lot in the area 🚗
How long is the wait for outdoor tables at 8pm on a Friday?
I visited around 8pm on a Friday, and since the outdoor seats are so popular, I waited about 20 minutes before getting a table! Still, the space is large so the line moved fairly quickly. Seeing the Blue Ribbon Survey certification sticker at the entrance while waiting only built up my anticipation!
Is the indoor seating at Bupyeong Yang Gopchang comfortable?
Stepping inside Bupyeong Yang Gopchang, I noticed the sleek, clean interior after a recent remodel 🌿

Some people might worry that an old-school tripe restaurant could feel slippery or less than clean, but Bupyeong Yang Gopchang is genuinely spotless and well-ventilated, making for a really pleasant meal!

One wall was packed with autographs from well-known celebrities, giving off that unmistakable 'famous restaurant' energy 👏🏻 The seating inside is spacious with good group-table setups, so it would also be a great spot for a company dinner or a reunion with old friends!
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang menu and bunmoja noodle add-on
The menu is simply organized into three options — salt-grilled, stone-pan marinated, and yang daechang jeongol (tripe hotpot) — and you can choose small, medium, or large sizes depending on your group size 📜 I especially liked that both the stone-pan marinated dish and the jeongol let you adjust the spice level to your taste!

Here's a great tip: among the sari (add-on noodle) options, they actually have bunmoja sari (glass noodles)! If you love a chewy texture, definitely add it when ordering the hotpot 🤤
If you try it in person and like it, it's also sold as a meal kit through their Naver Smart Store, so you can order it online and enjoy it comfortably at home.
What side dishes come with the meal at Bupyeong Yang Gopchang?
Once your order is placed, a generous spread of side dishes arrives — savory siraegi doenjang soup (dried radish green soybean paste soup), tangy-sweet baechu geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), soft sundubu (uncurdled tofu), cabbage salad, onion soy sauce, cheongyang chili peppers, and pickled radish 🥣

I don't usually eat much salad, but the cabbage salad here has such a nutty dressing that I kept reaching for it without thinking 🥗 Warming up my stomach with the soft sundubu and savory siraegi doenjang soup before the spicy hotpot even started boiling was just perfect!
How spicy is the small spicy tripe hotpot?
We ordered the yang daechang jeongol in the small size, spicy option! Once the pot goes on the burner, the friendly staff come by to cook it just right for you 🍲

You can just relax and chat with your friend while it cooks through, which made the whole experience so easy and satisfying!

After a while, once the yang daechang jeongol was bubbling away nicely, we finally got to taste it! Even on the spicy setting, it wasn't the kind of intense heat that burns your stomach — just a pleasantly chili-spiked, refreshing savoriness that even people who can't handle much spice could enjoy 🔥
The hotpot was packed with plenty of savory gopchang (small intestine) and thick daechang (large intestine), plus a generous amount of the standard glass noodle sari. The bunmoja sari I added for the first time this time soaked up the hotpot's seasoning beautifully, giving it a wonderfully chewy texture 🥹

I was honestly surprised at how healing the whole meal felt! Among the beef tripe specialists in Nampo-dong, Bupyeong Yang Gopchang's hotpot seasoning really stood out 💛
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang: honest pros and cons
- Pros: The outdoor pojangmacha-style seating is well set up, letting you enjoy that distinctly Busan outdoor-tent vibe 💕 Staff attentively cook the hotpot for you from start to finish, and options like bunmoja sari and adjustable spice levels let you tailor the meal to your taste!
- Cons: During peak evening hours or weekends, outdoor seats get busy and some waiting may occur ⏰ If you want outdoor seating, I'd recommend arriving close to opening time or coming with some flexibility in your schedule!
