Where is Gim Geumja Sutbul Galbi Daeyeon Branch, and where do you park?
Gim Geumja Sutbul Galbi Daeyeon Branch (김금자숯불갈비 대연점) is at 185-5 Suyeong-ro, Nam-gu, Busan, on the 1st floor, a 3-minute walk from Motgol Station Exit 2. Just keep walking toward the side opposite Daiso and you'll see it. Hours are Mon–Fri 16:00–01:00 and Sat–Sun 11:30–01:00, with last order at 00:00.
The Nam-gu Office parking lot is close, so driving was easy and I didn't worry about parking at all. It also seemed like a handy spot to drop in if you're running errands near the UN Memorial Cemetery or the Nam-gu Office.

We went as a family, and like a proper Daeyeon-dong BBQ place, it was full of other families, so the mood was relaxed.
Atmosphere inside Gim Geumja Sutbul Galbi Daeyeon Branch
The restaurant mixes retro interiors with a hip feel, and my eyes kept wandering the moment I walked in.

Even among Daeyeon-dong BBQ spots, the interior stood out. The tables are spaced fairly wide, so moving around with a kid was easy and the meal felt comfortable.

It was a weekend and quite busy, yet it wasn't noisy, and we could chat while eating. Guests ranged from grandparents to kids, which made the place feel trustworthy.
Is it comfortable with kids? Self-service bar and high chairs
There's a self-service bar, so whenever we ran low on side dishes we could just grab more. High chairs are available too, so bringing a child felt stress-free.
The place was kept clean, which reassured me on hygiene, and the staff were friendly, which put me in a good mood.

Ordering the Gim Geumja Set, with spicy galbi at level 0
This time we ordered the Gim Geumja Set: 400g of marinated galbi (seasoned short ribs) and 400g of spicy galbi. I asked for the spicy galbi at level 0, the mild version, so our child could eat it.
As a proper Daeyeon-dong BBQ place, the menu was well stocked, and choosing was half the fun.

We also added one cider, one grilled dried filefish, two bowls of rice, one beef belly doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and one nurungji (scorched rice), which made for a hearty spread.

How were the marinated galbi and mild spicy galbi?
The moment the galbi from the Gim Geumja Set hit the charcoal, the smoky aroma spread and my expectations shot up.

We flipped it often so it wouldn't burn, and it looked so appetizing. The marinated galbi was sweet, soaked in nicely without being salty, so even the kid ate it with no trouble.

Maybe because I ordered the spicy galbi mild, it wasn't spicy at all, just a subtle savory depth that I liked.

I kept reaching for more, wrapping the tender meat in ssammu (pickled radish wraps).

You get two flavors at once, so it's a perfect setup for sharing with a child.

With one set you can compare two flavors, so it's a menu I'd want to order again next time.

Grilled dried filefish and cider
The charcoal-grilled dried filefish (jwipo) at Gim Geumja Sutbul Galbi Daeyeon Branch was salty and chewy, and went well even without alcohol.

Eating it straight off the grill made it even chewier and nuttier. A cold cider balanced the flavor, so I kept going back for more.
Beef belly doenjang jjigae
The beef belly doenjang jjigae had beef belly in a rich, savory soybean paste base, making it a hearty bowl.

It wasn't salty and had real depth, and with rice even our child ate it well, which made me really happy.

Finishing with nurungji
We finished with nurungji, nutty and simmered into a porridge. It felt gentle on the stomach, an easy, comfortable way to end the meal.
It was the kind of Daeyeon-dong spot I'd happily come back to next time.
Is Gim Geumja Sutbul Galbi Daeyeon Branch worth it for a family meal?
The menu was varied enough that it could even work as a Daeyeon-dong drinking spot, and it was no burden at all as a family meal. If you're looking for a Daeyeon-dong pork galbi spot for a company dinner, I'd recommend this place.
From kids' dishes to grown-up ones, this Daeyeon-dong BBQ place satisfied everyone. Next time I want to try other menu items too. It's comfortable for family meals, so I can confidently recommend it to people around me, and for families with kids it should be even more satisfying.
One-line review: A charcoal galbi restaurant great for families, with top-notch value
