In short

Beefjeong Gogi Jip is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul, near Sindang Station. I reserved a birthday meat cake made with two servings each of pork belly and pork jowl, then enjoyed it with the Beefjeong hamburger and Tiger makgeolli. Verdict: a wonderfully special birthday meal.

Visit for a meat cake at Beefjeong in Sindang

For my birthday recently, I was looking for somewhere special and found a place I absolutely loved!! I heard there was an incredible BBQ restaurant in Sindang that makes cakes out of meat, so I rushed right over~ It was Beefjeong Gogi Jip (비프정 고기집) by Sindang Station!

Just three minutes from Sindang Station! Beefjeong is such a thoughtful BBQ spot.

Beefjeong location near Sindang Station

It is in a great restaurant alley less than five minutes from Exit 8 of Sindang Station! Beefjeong Gogi Jip was right at the front of it~ I had three separate birthday meetups that day, so I could not handle much walking, but it was right by the station and so convenient.

Aprons are essential at a BBQ restaurant, right? The drawing on these aprons was hahaha so cute hahaha. I burst out laughing thanks to the thoughtful aprons^^

Another thoughtful touch here: they serve hutgae water (oriental raisin tree tea). How could I possibly not drink with that?! Haha

There was a great variety of banchan (Korean side dishes), and I really, really loved that they gave us just the right amounts. When a restaurant piles side dishes into huge bowls, I feel bad leaving the ones I do not eat. At Beefjeong, everything came in just enough to eat, so you could see they were thinking about the environment too~ And it was all delicious, so there was no chance of leftovers anyway.... so good.

Even the individually wrapped stacks of cutlery were touching... I came for the meat cake, but seeing these hygiene details made the place feel even more trustworthy!

On days with a wait, you can only dine for two hoursㅠ But two hours is enough to finish the meat anyway....

Beefjeong dining time notice

It was one of those thoughtful Beefjeong moments that made me think, of course a celebrity-favorite restaurant is different haha. It felt like the owner had really researched lots of little ideas! And then, what is there even to say about the meat quality? Of course it had to be good! I was so excited:)

Beef and pork menu at Beefjeong

Beefjeong sells both beef and pork~ They say they carefully select it every day from Majang-dong! There are lots of amazing combinations too, from the Beefjeong Set with the three best cuts of Korean beef that day, to a sow pork set, Korean beef yukhoe (seasoned raw beef), and a beef brisket set. They also have the Beefjeong hamburger with a Korean beef patty made from leftover hanger steak, oyster blade, and ribeye cuts, jjagaeji with green-onion kimchi, gim malguk (seaweed soup), and an old-school lunchbox—there is no side dish they do not have~

Side dish and alcohol menu at Beefjeong

There is a wide range of alcohol too, including takju (unrefined rice wine), cheongju (clear rice wine), and distilled spirits~ They have rosé makgeolli, Minhwa-ju, Tiger makgeolli, Mungyeong Baram Oak, and Leegangju too. We ordered a bottle of Tiger makgeolli.

A meat cake made with pork belly and pork jowl

Ta-da~ Our meat cake was made with two servings of pork belly plus two servings of pork jowl!!!! If you request it when reserving, they make it into a cake and only charge for the meat!! Just tell them which meat you want~ For a meat-cake order, they say it needs at least four servings to look pretty! The two of us ate until we were bursting hahaha.

For this birthday, my goal was to film all the Reels I had wanted to try hahaha. I fulfilled that wish with the meat cake at Beefjeong^_^ I worked hard on it with Michael Bublé's “Feeling Good,” but then I could not save the audio because of copyright haha.

Support inside the meat cake

There is a support inside the cake like this haha. We started by sizzling up the pork jowl~ Honestly, I was so dazzled by the meat cake that I was not paying much attention, but I was shocked when the pork jowl burst with juices.

Sizzling grilled pork jowl

We grilled kimchi with it too, and polished off two servings of pork jowl in no time haha.

You know the first bite has to be dipped only in salt, right?! Haha. With an 11-dish Korean table setting of side dishes, there is no way you could get tired of eating the meat~

The ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste dipping sauce) was delicious, and the pickled chili peppers were seriously incredible... They were not spicy, but soaked through with that clean chili aroma.

The pork belly was thick too, and bursting with juices—it was such a happy meal!

The Beefjeong hamburger combination

Beefjeong hamburger (₩5,000). The patty is made from leftover pieces of Korean beef hanger steak, oyster blade, ribeye, and other cuts! Have you ever seen such a luxurious hamburger patty? Haha

Beef-and-pork hamburger topped with pork belly

I added grilled pork belly too and made myself a beef-and-pork hamburger. Beef and pork are both delicious in different ways, you know~ Delicious plus delicious meant double the juice! Double the richness! Double the nuttiness! It was the best!!!! I highly recommend this combination haha.

Meat cake and Tiger makgeolli

I happily drank the Tiger makgeolli that I could not possibly skip and got pleasantly tipsy—it was my birthday! Thanks to the special meat cake at Beefjeong, it was a really, really happy birthday:)

How do you reserve a meat cake?

Meat cake reservation guide at Beefjeong

You can reserve through Naver, and when ordering, choose and write down the meat you want (beef or pork), right down to the cut. Four servings or more stack up prettily, but they say they will make three servings look as pretty as possible too haha. I hope you all have a happy day with a delicious meat cake at Beefjeong for a special anniversary or birthday:)
