Anniversary dinner for two at Suwon Chinese restaurant Mirim Yangjang

It was our wedding anniversary not too long ago — yay~!!~!

On special days you always crave something you don't usually get to eat! So this time we went to Mirim Yangjang for Peking duck. It's close to Suwon Station too, so access is great. Let me walk you through the menu, prices, and taste in detail~~

Where is Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch, and what are the hours?

Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch is a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Suwon Station, on the 3rd floor of Time Villas. Hours are Mon–Sun 10:30–22:00, and parking is available.

Since it's inside the Time Villas building, it's a great spot to shop and eat out in one trip.

I'd been to the Gangnam branch before and was so satisfied that I decided to try the Suwon branch too!

Mirim Yangjang's main dish is Peking duck, but they also serve a variety of Chinese dishes like hot pot, lamb skewers, sweet and sour pork, mala tang, mapo tofu, and kkanshoo shrimp!

Inside Mirim Yangjang, and why to book by phone

Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch has such an authentically Chinese vibe you get swept away~~ this is basically mini China.

I made a reservation by phone beforehand. But if I hadn't... there were so many customers! Definitely a proven hotspot.

I was totally overwhelmed by that distinctly Hong Kong feel..! This interior seems like something the young crowd would love (the old crowd too...).

No menu at the table: scan the QR code or read the board outside

Mirim Yangjang doesn't have a separate menu on the table — you have to scan a QR code. As a grandma at heart, I find that stuff annoying and confusing... could you please just make a regular menu?? Please??ㅠㅠㅠ

The 59,000-won Peking Duck Set: the right order for two

The Peking Duck Set (duck + 2 meals + drink) is ₩59,000. Peking duck tends to be a pricier dish, right? But here you can enjoy it at a reasonable value! You get a portion of Peking duck plus two full meal dishes, so I'd recommend this set if you're going as a pair!!

Ah... how long has it been since I had Peking duck? I firmly believe real Peking duck should be glossy and glistening, with a perfect crispy-outside-moist-inside texture!

This was exactly the Peking duck I'd been craving. Truly crispy skin with moist meat inside — it was really delicious.

Side dishes and free mil-jeonbyeong pancake refills

You can't have Peking duck without these accompaniments!!! Cucumber, scallion shreds, and the special sauce — such a good lineup. Wrapping it all up together makes your mouth so happy.

Ah, and you can't forget the mil-jeonbyeong (thin wheat pancakes) either!! I may or may not have gotten a refill on these — not telling ㅎㅎㅎ

Both my husband Mr. Shin and I were super excited since it had been a while since we had Peking duck.

They lay the mil-jeonbyeong out on a big plate~~ oh, and even the pancakes alone were delicious. So chewy, it was seriously amazing.

Then add the cucumber and scallion shreds! I don't usually like scallion shreds, but with Peking duck I always eat them. They pair so well with the rich duck — really??

And when you top it all off with a thick slice of meat, I'm eating Peking duck and happiness at the same time!!!!

Mr. Shin, of all things, handed me a wrap — maybe because it's our anniversary. Well, I won't turn it down^^ nom nom~~

And that special sauce here is the real deal... sweet and savory-salty at once, genuinely delicious!!!

We seriously kept wrapping and eating like crazy... I usually hate wrapping food because it's a hassle, but today the hassle was fine...

Does the duck taste gamey? How the Peking duck tasted

With Mirim Yangjang's Peking duck, first of all, the duck meat had almost no gamey smell, which I really liked. They truly know how to make Peking duck here...

It's savory yet light, so you keep eating without getting sick of it!!

And loading it up with vegetables when you wrap it makes it feel like it won't even go to your waistline — sort of a healthy meal vibe~~

Ah. I want to bring my mom here too. I think she'd love it so much (said the daughter who talks a big game).

We ordered both of the meals included in the set as jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles)! The jjajangmyeon here is the real deal, so make sure to get two bowls of it...
