One Friday last September, I took a day off after a while and headed to Suwon! In the morning I studied for my computer skills certification at a café, making good use of the time. As I studied, lunchtime rolled around, so I headed to Time Villas for a protein fix.

The place I visited was Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch, famous for Chinese food. Walking inside, even the corridor felt spacious and pleasant.

Even during a weekday lunch, the place was already packed with customers, which really showed just how popular this Suwon spot is.

I noticed the staff hard at work in an open-kitchen style. Seeing the cooking process felt clean and hygienic, which put me even more at ease while eating.

Location, parking and reservations at Time Villas Suwon

• Location: 3rd floor inside Time Villas, near Suwon Station
• Parking: Large parking lot available in the Time Villas building (parking registration required at payment!)
• Reservations: In-person or phone reservation inquiries possible; Catch Table or on-site waiting recommended at peak times
• Restroom: Shared restroom on the 3rd floor of Time Villas (very clean and pleasant)

There's a menu board out front that you can check at a glance from outside. Mirim Yangjang, a Suwon Station favorite, is a remodeled brand that carries over the elegant tailor-shop atmosphere and spirit of its original Busan location. Beyond Peking duck, it also serves a variety of Chinese dishes like hotpot, sweet and sour pork, and mala tang.

Walking down the corridor, you can see the carefully roasted ducks hanging right there — quite a fun visual touch.

This was actually my third visit to Mirim Yangjang! And once again, without fail, I ordered half a Peking duck.

Peking duck — just looking at the glossy photo of the golden, crispy duck meat makes my mouth water all over again.

One special perk unique to Mirim Yangjang at Time Villas is that onion and chili flakes come standard on the table.

I spread out a thin, warm pancake, topped it with duck meat that was crispy outside and moist inside, added the special sauce, then piled on scallion and onion and wrapped it up neatly.

The savory flavor of the duck meat filling my mouth, combined with the crunchy onion and fresh scallion, was truly a work of art! It cut through the richness completely, leaving just a clean, nutty flavor behind.

I dipped the pickled radish (danmuji) served alongside in a bit of the vinegar on the table. The crunchy, tangy radish cut right through the greasy taste of the meat, so I kept eating without ever getting tired of it.

The Time Villas branch serves jjajangmyeon too

Looking around while I ate, other customers were enjoying a really wide variety of dishes. In particular, a lot of people were happily eating jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodles). As far as I know, other Mirim Yangjang branches don't sell jjajangmyeon, so it was even more appealing that this Time Villas location has a full lineup of noodle dishes too.

Verdict after a third visit to Mirim Yangjang

Between the staff's friendly service, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and above all the deep, rich flavor of authentic Peking duck, everything about this meal was perfect. It's a great date spot near Suwon Station, and I don't think there's a better place to enjoy a special meal with family or a partner.
