Gunja is really hot right now! If you want a bit more atmosphere than your average bar in the area, I want to introduce Kick Ass Jazz Club.

Kick Ass Jazz Club is a 4-minute walk from Exit 3 of Gunja Station on Line 5, so it's really easy to get to!

Wood-toned interior and lighting: what the vibe is like

The first thing you notice walking in is the warm, vintage mood created by the deep wood tones. It kind of felt like stepping into a bar in some rural American town.. 👀

With brown wood used throughout, from the walls to the bar tables, you really get that classic, weighty jazz-bar mood.

That said, it's not too dark or heavy — the pendant lights dotted around and the soft indirect lighting make it feel cozy and comfortable.

Live jazz up close on Kick Ass Jazz Club's small stage

The biggest draw of Kick Ass Jazz Club is definitely the live performances. On one side there's a small stage set up with drums and mic amps, backed by a red velvet curtain!

Being able to enjoy the music up close gives you a mood that's definitely different from a regular bar!

Show-night cover charge and order rules: can you go alone?

At Kick Ass Jazz Club you order the menu via QR code.

Kick Ass Jazz Club holds live shows every Friday, Saturday, and on special occasions.

On show nights there's a ₩12,000 cover charge per person, and you either order one bottle of whiskey or wine per table, or one plate/dish menu item plus one drink per person.

For anyone who wants to enjoy it solo, there's a separate bar snack set menu just for one person, so it's a good place to visit alone too.

Non-alcoholic cocktails and the signature Kick Ass Highball

Besides cocktails, Kick Ass Jazz Club also has non-alcoholic drinks and highballs, which were great for a light drink!

Warm popcorn came out as a default side.

We ordered one non-alcoholic cocktail and one highball! I loved that Kick Ass Jazz Club has non-alcoholic options so people who can't drink much can still enjoy the atmosphere together!

The Kick Ass Highball, their signature menu item! It's made with a house-made cordial that layers apple, coconut, and vanilla flavors and aromas. It has a richer, more distinctive aroma than a typical highball, so you get a sense of Kick Ass's own character from the very first sip. What I liked most is that it's not just a generic highball — it's a signature drink you can only taste here.

Pastry pepperoni pizza: finished even as a second-round snack

We ordered the pastry pepperoni pizza, one of their signature menu items. The savory pastry dough is piled high with pepperoni.. it's a great pairing with all kinds of drinks.

Honestly... since it's a jazz club, I figured the food would just be something to go along with the mood, so I didn't expect much,, but it was so, so good.. that I finished it even though it was our second stop of the night.

It seems perfect for a light bite while watching the show!

Cucumber pickles and jalapeños are also served on the side, so you can adjust it to your taste.

Instead of a regular pizza dough, it has that crisp, light texture unique to layered pastry, which made it even better : 3
