Today I'm introducing a spot for a quick drink near DMC Station — Hanamato Sangam DMC 😁 It's not far from the Sangam bar street, so it's perfect if you're looking for a second-round spot in Sangam. Where is Hanamato? Inside the DMC Station bar street

Hanamato Sangam DMC is a short walk in from the DMC bar street. The building itself is big and bright, so it's easy to spot! Since they use the whole building, it seems perfect for a large group dinner too, right?

If you visit before 6pm, they give you a free highball! These days a highball can easily run over 5,000–6,000 won, so this is really great value...👍🏻 Not many bars stay open late nowadays, but with last order at 2am, it's great for a drink after working overtime too 🍻🥂🥃

The inside is spacious and has a nice vibe, with things like a pirate roulette game set up, so it also seems like a good spot for a blind date or date night~♥

Hanamato's menu and what to order for a second round

The menu is super varied! There's a separate Sangam signature menu, and there are set menus that include scallops, yakitori, and karaage 🫢 Since we were full and this was our second round, we ordered the five-skewer set + fried chicken skin + tsukune skewer, and after finishing those, we added mentaiko cheese potato, heart, and chicken skin skewer (not pork, don't worry 🐷🐽)

The tsukune (Japanese-style chicken meatball skewer) came out first! It arrives with an egg yolk, and I'd recommend dipping it into the shichimi and soy sauce set on every table. The shichimi has a fine red-pepper-flake feel, so it's got a nice spicy kick.

When you pop the yolk and eat it, the savoriness is insane. The tsukune is plump so the texture is great too, and it's salty enough that soju and beer go down way too easily.

It seemed to take a bit of time, maybe because the skewers are grilled to order. Raw cabbage comes out alongside — you know that's a classic at izakayas, right?! Living up to its name as a top Sangam DMC izakaya, even the cabbage is delicious here. It's great to eat when things start feeling a little greasy, since it cuts right through.

This skewer is presumably chicken thigh meat. I sprinkled on soy sauce and shichimi together and the seasoning was just right! The chicken skewer was really tender and soft — a solid drinking snack.

Top pick: Hanamato's crispy chicken skin skewer

We finished the five skewers quickly, so we added heart and chicken skin skewers! My favorite and my friend's favorite were both the chicken skin skewer. It's super crispy and salty, which hit our taste exactly. The chicken skin is salty enough to eat straight, no extra seasoning needed. Or it also pairs really well wrapped with the soft chicken thigh meat 🍗

Everyone, this is seriously insane... the combo of savory potato, salty cheese, and mentaiko (seasoned pollock roe) is out of this world!! It's honestly an unbeatable combination, and I want to go back just for this...💛

Look at the cheese stretch..! We really wiped it out in no time... It comes out on a sizzling hot plate, so it stays warm the whole way through 🩷
